Message: Jessica,
It takes hours to soak them off, so set aside a "day" for the project. Patients is key.
DO NOT POP THEM OFF, YOU WILL SHREAD YOUR NATURAL NAILS.
Just take your time and it will be accomplished.

Message: Jessica,
it helps if you "warm" up the acetone. put enought in a glass container to cover one nail at a time. set the container over into a shallow bowl of hot water so it will feel warm when your fingers are in the acetone. you can also try wrapping a finger at a time in acetone soaked cotton pads-but they do dry out quickly. as soon as you take your acrylics away from the acetone they "harden" again so keep them in it as long as possible. you will probably have to file some of it away also, so be careful and don't file your own nail or the skin around your nail. acrylic powder, plastic nails and glue are not easy to remove, but you can do it. if you pop them off you will take off layers of your own nail-guaranteed. they will be dehydrated after you remove them. a good nail oil will do them good.

Message: JANEL!!!!!
Please don't come in here screaming. My ears ache with all that screaming... we much prefer quiet and pieceful here.....lol
This site is dedicated to the removal of fake nails, regardless of the latest names they lable them with. Sorry but you might google "fake nails" and see what all you come up with.
Be glad to help you recover your own natural nails when you are ready.

Message: To Janel's defense, I think there are some people out there that don't really know about email ediquit (sp? it's late!). When you post a message in all CAPS it means you are "yelling" at your audience; if you type in RED it means you're mad. Just some helpful hints. And Janel, please please please take those darn fake nails off, you will be glad you did. I cannot even begin to explain the damage you are doing. Best of luck to you!

Message: Help! I've only had acrylics for 3 days and I'm sorry already. I asked for just a thin coat of overlay. Now I'm afraid to do anything to get them off. I will never go back to a nail salon. Is it okay to just let them grow out and buff them down occassionally? Or is it better to soak them off. I'm afraid what I'll find underneath. (I'm still wondering why I didn't get what I asked for!)

Message: anne,
because they are more interested in getting your money and don't care about what's happening to your own nails. it's only been 3 days, so soaking them off isn't a huge deal. pure acetone works best and it takes time. if you decide to "grow them out",you face the risk, as your own nail grows underneath, of knocking off the acrylic and damaging the nail bed even further. you stand a good chance of reclaiming your own nails because you haven't had a fill yet.

Message: I am a nail tech n have been for a few years, but i am not one of those people who are just interested "in getting your money". I refuse service to many people cos they already have beautiful nails and don't need them.
I agree there are people who will rip you off and destroy your natural nails, but please we all aren't like that. My clients who have had nails off and still have strong beautiful nails underneath.
But Jessica I would not recommend leaving them on as they grow out the acrylic will be imbalanced and you risk snaping your natural nails in half. When you soak them off add a few drops of cuticle oil into the acetone to prevent it from drying out to much, and remember to keep appling cuticle oil at least twice a day.

Message: michelle,
we're all glad, here, that you are a kind and caring nail tech, but why not do regular manicures on women? 99% of us here on this forum, that wore, or tried to wear the acrylic, ended up with nightmares for nails. you are in a minority of nail techs where most don't understand english, don't understand sanitary practices and "assembly-line" women through their stations. i know everyone has the right to make a living, but it's gotten ridiculous. there aren't any of us here that are going to believe that strong, beautiful nails are the result after the removal of acrylics. just the removal/acetone soaking alone robs them of moisture, much less the months and years of fills. you know all this, i'm sure, and you sound like a nice, reputable nail tech AND none of us is ever trying to pick a fight, because it is an uphill battle. but many of us have had such painful, experiences with acrylics and kept looking for the answer in our nail techs and didn't find it. what we did find, here, was the Nail Growth Formula and recovery of our own nails.

Message: I'm in the same predicament. Would someone help me? I have my nails done for the first time about 4 weeks ago......they were pretty and I liked them. They're too long now and starting to come loose and "snag" on things. I want them off but haven't had time to go back to the salon. I purchased some nail polish remover with acetone but it's only making them "gummy" and they're not coming off. I've resorted to putting tape around my fingers to avoid snagging anything. What do I buy and how do I remove these things tonight?!
