Subject: DIY Acrylics at home?
Message: Do any of you do your own acrylic nails (or french tips) at home that are almost as good as/if not as good as a professional?
What products do you use to get your results?
I've really enjoyed having my first set of acrylics, but can't justify the expense to have a professional keep them up and would love to find some super products to use at home and not waste my money on useless products before finding something that truly works great.
Thanks!!

Message: After a while of watching the nail tech do my nails I picked up on doing them myself. Your best bet is to go to a beauty supply store and ask which of their acrylic nail products are the best. I feel the the primer is one of the most important steps and noticed that the beauty supply's primer was so-so. Really any brand will work.

Message: Do you notice the heading at the top of this page? This forum is dedicated to NATURAL NAILS. We do not encourage the use of any destructive products, including acrylic nails. All topical treatments will be the death of our own natural nails. Kathy's post was over 1 1/2 years ago, and I think by now she may have found a solution to her problem. Do a Google search or find an acrylic forum.

Message: you go get 'em jessica! it's hard to make people believe the kind of destruction that's going on underneath the acrylic. it's good to have more voices out against them.

Message: Lourdes! Are you Madonna's daughter? LOL
Mama doesn't allow TV so for entertainment you dig back 18 months and find some post to bring to the top again? Such a mischievous child!

Message: At this point, I can hardly believe that ANYONE would believe that they can wear these things and still have healthy nails. Second, they are FAKE, and they ALL LOOK FAKE! For heaven sakes, when people fight about cooking oil, and silicone, and anything else that might harm us, why are you even considering this as a safe alternative to your own Natural Nails?
I think people just have too much of an instant gratification life style. So many things at hand instantly....
When you're ready to whip your OWN NATURAL NAILS into shape, we can help you make that happen. Make informed decisions before you take action with things that WILL and DO affect your health.

Message: I agree 100 percent with Barbara. I also think that acrylics and other topical treatments aren't real-looking. I can tell they are fake about 99 percent of the time. Not to mention all the wasted time, money, and the possible medical problems caused by the fakes. The topical treatments, no matter what anyone calls them, are still dangerous, pricey, and time consuming! Ladies, put your efforts into taking great care of your natural nails, just like I do mine. Then you won't run the risk of causing possibly permanent damage to your nails.
