Subject: Burning fingernails
Message: Help!! I have had acrylic nails for years and go to the same lady. This time as she was brushing the powder on my nails my fingers started burning. Even after I washed my hands good they burned. Now the backs of my fingers burn. What could be causing this? I have never had this happen before. She never cut my ceuticals.
Very concerned

Message: Did you have the acrylic removed?
I'm guessing you may be experiencing an allergic reaction.
PLEASE - go read this info: http://tenx10nails.tripod.com/exposure_signs.htm
I was just there to get the address. The first symptom listed in burning.
Myself, after 18 years, began having severe itching and swelling and finally infected cuticles. It started out just an hour or so after a fill. Within 2 years (I was NOT giving it up!) it was all the time. I have been free of them for 3 months now. I still get little itchy bumps near the nail area up as far as the first joint. Regular nail strengtheners seem to bring it on.
The other possiblity might be just a really "tight" bond. But my money is on the allergy.
Good Luck - And PLEASE do not wait as long as I did to quit if it is allergy. Your just delaying the inevitable.

Message: The burning is caused by a chemical reaction from the primer which has acid in it and should be very carefully put on the nail. The chemical from the primer and acrylic come together and start the burning reaction, try using rubbing alcohol on the nail bed. This stops the burning almost instantly.

Message: I sincerely hope this tells you not to participate in the acrylic, gel, etc. nail game any more. If it is painful, STOP! Put your efforts and time and whatever money you wish to spend, into reclaiming your own natural nails. God, please, if you're doing this because of some "idea of beauty", don't!
Just don't! Please start considering seriously why the nail techs wear masks to prevent them from breathing the fumes.....If they are protecting themselves from this, why are paying them to poison you, and destroy your nails too?

Message: I have a severe allergy to the primer used when applying acrylic nails. My fingers itch, swell and burn for three days after a fill and develop small blisters. There is a product for people that are allergic to acrylic nails, it's called 'Extreme.' Many salons have never heard of it, but it is available at beauty supply stores. I found a place that uses it, and I never have a problem anymore.

Message: i don't know, something called "extreme" should be the first clue that it's not something you should be putting your nails through, in the first place. why didn't you just stop the first time when you developed blisters? i just don't get it.

Message: I have personally never had any acrylic nails put on being as I am a man. My wife is a licsensed beautician and likes to do her nails at home. The kids and I are trapped in the basement the whole day, and even the next day the house stinks like someone has been cooking meth in our home. I HATE THE CRAP!!! Any info on the dangers of the fumes would be much appreciated. I do know there is safer stuff but makes the nails look yellow. The best junk always is more dangerous.

Message: Does your wife smoke in the house? In front of the children? If not she could probably do less damage with the cigarettes! These chemicals will BURN the lungs. Tell her to GO OUT! Weather she has to meet at a friends house, or in an open park, but get that stuff away from the childrens' lungs. That home is their safe haven. They can't stop her so some how you must! Besides, she is going to destroy her own health with that CRAP! as you put it, and rightly so.
Tell her we will be glad to talk to her without judgments. We just want her to see the health risks BEFORE she does the damage and has to see a doctor.
It may take years for any problems to arise, but the problems will arise. So ask her to email me or join our chat about the alternatives to the fake nails.
I know I probably am sounding ugly on this topic, but it is very scary what could happen!
Help her by helping her stop!

Message: You guys r a bunch of parranoid women... If you know so much about nail care maybe you should have been able to recognized that whoever was putting GEL or ACRYLIC on your nails didn't know what they were doing. I've been doing nails for a long time, and when I take my clients nails off they don't have any of these problems you speak of. Barbara, I know your just trying to SELL YOUR PRODUCT but give me a break. I appoligize for your bad experience at the chop house you went to... But NOT EVERYONE runs there business that way!!! If this so called "CRAP" is soooo deadly why do reputable companies still sell it??? Barbra, I would love to know whats in your products. Why aren't the ingredents listed??? If your sooo concerned about everyones health maybe you should be working for GREENPEACE!!!
Thanks TALENTED NAIL TECH
