Subject: Black marks under nails
Message: Sometime in the last few months, black marks have begun to appear underneath five of my fingernails. The three digits furthest from my thumb on my left hand, and the two digits furthest from my thum on my right hand are the ones affected. There are as few as 1 and as many as 6 marks; and they are each sort of a short line, maybe a millimeter or two long. I don't know if this is anything to worry about or not; my nails (with the exception of one thumbnail I damaged years ago) are strong and healthy, they are naturally long, and require very little maintenance. I'd just like to know that nothing is wrong, and what might be causing such marks. Thank you!

Message: Marie, If I were you I would go to a doctor very soon. Black marks under your nails could be a very minor condition, but it could also be a pre-indicator of a blood disorder causing easy bruising and blood clots. Just get it checked out, better to be safe than sorry, right?
And Kevin, this is a site where respectable people come for help. Either clean up what you have to say and keep it constructive or stay away from this forum. Go talk to other pervs, you may find it more exciting.

Message: Marie, you need to see your doctor to have your nails checked. Black marks could be a mole or could also be melanoma. My son had to have a biopsy last year because of his nails. Luckly it was not cancer.

Message: Marie,
asking your doctor will ease your mind, but in the meantime don't panic. you have healthy nails-that's good. sounds like small cappilaries are breaking underneath your nails. don't know why it happens, but sometimes it just does. i've had it off and on over the years, a lot of people have, for no apparent reason most of the time, and the lines grew out.

Message: nothing. you could watch them, but it would be kind of like watching grass grow-a big waste of time.

Message: it could be nothing more than a broken cappilary or it might be something entirely different. only a doctor can really tell.
