Subject: Toenail fell off. How do I...
Message: Hi, my toenail recently fell off and since it is summer and time to wear sandals, I was wondering of anybody knows how I can make a fake nail for it? I'm so desperate, I'm even going to try to make one by quirting Elmers Glue on it. I'm too embarrassed and sad to wear sandals with a big toenail missing :( What do you do?

Message: What i would do is go to a salon and get your toe filled in. Also clean your toe and it should look more normal so you can wear sandals!

Message: I had to have my toenail(as well as the nail bed) removed and went to a salon where the technician filled it in with acrylic. It looked ok but not 100% great. Does anyone know any other way to make my poor old feet look less freaky and revolting????

Message: if i had a big toenail missing i would probably do the same thing for wearing sandals. some folks try gluing on a tip, but if it's ripped off then you're left with an injured toe. if you've never had a pedicure, go have one. it's a slice of heaven. pedicurists are used to freaky feet-believe me!

Message: If the salon fills your toe with acrylic, won't that prevent the toenail from growing back?

Message: you are correct. it will stunt new growth. if the matrix under the nail isn't damaged then a new nail will grow back. people just don't seem to have the patience for that, or much else it seems.

Message: A local nail salon makes fake nail for toe. glue on with over the counter nail glue (Fing'rs Instant Nail Glue seems to work OK). It will hold for a few days but won't damage the skin in the nail bed. Just talk to your nail technician.

Message: if that's the avenue you decide to take, just be careful and don't whack the toe on something or someone. ripping the plastic off a bare skin toenail would be painful. super glue is not something to be taken lightly. eyelids, fingers have been glued together in less than a second with this stuff.
