Message: I have a nail fungus type in my thumbs which my doctor says is not fungus as I have been tested by the labatory and it came back negative. it is white on top corners down the left thumb just above the cuticle. i got it when I was in New York and that was in June. I have tried something from the chemist to no avail. My doctor says it will probably go. it looks horrible - any suggestions

Message: your doctor couldn't tell you what it exactly was? i find it hard to believe it will just go away without some sort of treatment. is it painful or making the nail peel or crumble? sometimes fingernail fungal or bacterial infections can start on our toenails. we keep trying to get rid of them on our nails and keep re-infecting ourselves through our toenails.

Message: Judy- are you one of those many people it "Healthy Nail Blend" has worked wonders for?
I agree with everything cheryl just said.
You need to see a dermatologist. Most other practicing physicians are just not that knowledgeable about nail issues, weather fungal or bacterial. Drs. now days are just too specialized to be an across the board practitioner. Seek information from one that knows how to treat the effected area.

Message: Annette - I'm surprised it came back negative for fungus. That makes me wonder if he tested you for bacterial infection as well. A couple years ago I had this happen to a thumb nail from acrylics. Tests came back positive for both fungus and bacteria infection. I applied the antibacterial cream four times daily and the Loprox (for fungus) twice daily. It took forever to grow out. Even when the infections are gone, the nails still looks petrified till new nail comes in. How is the new growth at your cuticle? Is that growing in healthy?
