use a lot of lotion. Even try vasaline, or better - Mary Kay rich emollient face cream. It's pink and really moisturizing. Rub it into your nails and cuticles, even on your lips. Even try warm olive oil. One doctor says that painting nails with a clear protectant is the only way to let moisture build back up in them and protect them from weather and water. There are some moisturizing kinds too.

For a while now my pointer and middle fingernails on both hands are spliting and growing above and rite under the origional nail what to do? I have tried a bunch of things and I am starting to take vitamens to see if any of those help. Also I used to bite my nails and recently have stopped unless I am really nervous or stressed or extreemly bored it is a bad habit and i don't notice when I do how can I fully stop??? Help please!

My right thumbnail grows out ok but when the nail reaches the end of the nailbed it splits. How can I repair this? I rub in Vitamin E oil, jojoba, straight lanolin, hand creams and any other cream plus Vaseline and it STILL splits. What else can I do?

The only way that I could quit biting my nails when bored or stressed was to keep them layered with polish - colored polish. Even now I have to give a lot of attention to my nails in other ways so that they don't get it from my mouth instead. =)
I hope that you can get them healthy again.

I am a piano player and my right middle fingernail has a split all the way to the cuticle. It has been this way for 5 years and I don't know how to fix it. Who can I see? Should I get it removed? Help!

My left thumb nail is split on the side and I cann't get it to stop. Tried supper glue and filing it down so it does not snag on clothing, hair, ect. I'm affaid I'll ripe it off.
