Subject: HELP! IT HURTS!
Message: My sculptured nail cracked down the middle (width wise) of the nail across the nailbed. Its bleeding as well and very painful.
This has never happened before and I dont know what to do. Logic tells me to remove the acrylic nail but Im not too keen on soaking in acetone with this open 'wound' and beyond that if I touch the thing it bleeds and hurts more!
My acrylic (sculptured) nails are beautiful and I have never had a problem with them before. The shop I normally would go to has closed down and the places I have been trying Im really not happy with.
Im worried about the loss of my REAL nail underneath.

Message: you probably don't want to soak it off because it will burn a bit. Usually the burn goes away after just a minute or two. If it doesn't, and continues to burn, then please take it out. You most likely aren't gonna lose your nail. after you have soaked the acrylics off, cut your nail all the way back, not to the break, but to the nail tip. Pour peroxide on it. After a couple of days, you can have another nail put on.

Message: oh joy, when it comes to acrylic nails and the experiences many of us have had with them, that doesn't even come close to being rude.

Message: Joy,
Many people find this site by doing a web search and it's not uncommon to pull up an older post in the process. Please understand that the ladies here are not so much rude as they are passionate about natural nails, and devoted to this product. You'll not find a more loyal and supportive group here.
Let's look at the facts - this is a forum devoted to the care and maintenance of naturally healthy nails, and many of us are here because we have had horrible acrylic experiences. Think of it this way - would you stand in the middle of a catholic mass and preach atheism? No, of course not! When ANYONE comes here and starts preaching the benefits or singing the praises of acrylics we let them know that this is OUR forum where we do not want to hear thier misinformation because we do not believe it. Many, if not all of us, want to see the end of acrylics but we do not go to acrylic nail sites and interupt their postings with our beliefs. So, we have the right to come to this place set aside for natural nail discussion and not be criticised for how we feel about acrylics. I'm beginning to sound like the Founding Fathers when they were drawing up the Declaration of Independance! LOL
Anyway, I am sure you get my point. Please stay and share whatever information you have regarding natural nails. The ladies here are truly fabulous, loyal and very knowledgeable people and they are great friends!

Message: I wouldn't dare get in on a conversation like my "southern sisters.(lol)" Us northerners are referred to as "brass." I tell it like it is though and don't like to beat around the bush. I'll leave those conversations up to Cheryl and Barbara. Now that's much more tactiful then I could ever be.

Message: oh, weigh on in here hol. we need the back-up some days!! you know, i sit here most days, when we get the "pro-acrylic fanatics" and really do try and hold "my tongue" for as long as i can, then i guess i just reach my limit. sometimes my fingers are flying faster than my brain, but you ladies that have gotten to "know" me during the last few years are the only ones i really care whether you understand what it is i'm trying to say.
