Subject: IMPORTANT! Need advice! Please help!!
Message: First off, let me start by informing you that I have professionally done acryllic nails.
A few days ago, I was hanging a poster on my wall. As I pushed in the thumb tack in, my hand slipped, and I hit the artificial nail on my thumb. It pretty much took my realy nail (most of it, at least) with it. They are both still attached at the base. It has been oozing puss for 3 days. My questions are
-Should I pull the nail (real nail) off?
-Is my thumb at risk for rotting and falling off of my hand?
If you have an answer, my AOL/AIM name is WannaFreakAngie7 and my email is BooBooKittieFuzz@hotmail.com
Thank you,
Ny

Message: Hi! I am new in here...
When I was very little I was biteing my nails... but only because my mum was not arround to help me cut them out... so I had to help myself!...
My husband is 23 and he bites his nail and peels them of till blood stars coming, and because he is such a nice person, nice and relaxed... I couldn't blame stress as being a cause... and he had a perfect childhood and wonderful parents who caused no frustration for him... now in stead nails he has skin, and even if it's painful he keeps on going... WHAT SCHOULD I DO?

Message: Joanna,
That is a learned behavior... You need to get him a healthier habit to replace the gnawing.... Habits are hard to just quit. Help him find something else to learn to do rather than nibbling out of habit.
A lot of my clients are men, and a lot of them have used the rubbing in of the Natural Nails Growth Formula as a replacement habit. Consider it... You don't stand to lose anything but a really dangerous health risk of a habit...You're eating lord knows what, while munching those nails, and chewing til you draw blood can create bacterial infections. You can not imagine how dangerous the human mouth, (i.e. bites) can be as far as germs and bacteria are concerned...

Message: Many people don't even realize they are biting their nails while they are doing it. Try saying "you're doing it again" every time you notice his fingers in his mouth.
Sometimes paying positive attention to the nails also helps. Help him with hand massage and cuticle care -- and tell him what beautiful hands he has (if only he could stop the nail-biting...)
Good luck. It's a hard habit to break.

Message: i agree with the second part of the suggestion, but the first part of saying "you're doing it again", is just going to fall on deaf ears. i bit for 36 years. nothing my parents said or anyone else, for that matter, would have had any affect on me until i was ready to stop and make a change. i tuned them out for a lot of years.

Message: My brother used to tell his wife "stop eating yourself!" no matter who they were in front of and that cured her of bitting her nails.
