Hi, I'm so upset! about 2 weeks ago I was at the beach under a cliff when a stone about the size of an orange fell on my ring finger and crushed my nail and finger, as a result my whole nail and matrix came out and the doctor pulled whatever was left of my nail. Now he says that he's not sure if my nail will ever grow again. Has anyone experienced this? Or does anyone know if my nail will ever grow again? I've taken pictures of my injury and I can send them via email if anyone can give me fededback on this. Thanks for reading my little note. Francesca

Well, it sounds pretty bad but I had a big toenail removed by lazor surgery a few years ago and it was not supposed to grow back--it looks like I never removed it. It takes awhile be patient
It will start out with scar tissue and then that will harden continuously until you eventually have your nail back.

my nail got stuck in the trunk of the car and the nail came off and its definitely growing back very slowly though

please give us an update about your nail growing back. did it grow back? does it look normal? my 34mos old toddler crushed her middle finger in a door closing and her nail came off after 10 days. that was 4 days ago, and it's been 2 weeks since the accident. i can't stand the suspense and want to know if my toddler's nail will grow back normally, look normal in the future...? and how long do we have to wait to see that the nail is growing back?

My 14 mnth son crushed the top of his finger in a door as well yesterday - the doc managed to push (without sedative!) the nail back into the nail bed but thinks he might lose it (the nail) forever - is that right?

i smashed my ring finger left hand and the nail lifted from the finger and does grow but never fills that gap. so i have a nail that is all funky now. and i cant seem to get it to rejoin the finger like his brothers. i have it clipped back and the center of it manages to gro normal but the edges are not. any ideas or thoughts are welcome.
