Message: I would really like to know if you have found any information on finger nails falling off. My six year old daughter has been having this problem for two years, she has seen numerous pediatrists and a dermatologist etc. We keep on hitting dead ends. I would appreciate any info.

Message: Hi..about 9 months ago I got both hands pinched in my garage door and ended up losing all but 2 of my fingernails on both hands. I am totally at wits end with it all....my nails are NOT growing back and I don't know what to do. I covered the nail beds with bandaids at first, but that kept it too moist, I put fake nails on but raw nail beds prevent them from staying on, I cant leave them open to air due to my profession...HELP...what can I do? I have what looks like hangnails at the cuticle, should I leave them? Is this the new nail coming out? I would appreciate any advice or input. Thanks

Message: I recently was trimming my thumbnail cuticles and cut a big gash in my nail. Most of the nail has come off with the exception of a little corner. When it grows out will a new nail grow in its place? A huge blister like thing grew up out of the nail and I eventually had to go to the emergency room because it hurt so bad. The doctor said she had never seen anything like it that I would have to have it removed surgically. I finally hit it on a car door and it came off before I could get to a doctor. It was a huge growth like thing and did not have any puss or anything in it at first but once it was knoced off , puss started coming out of my finger forever. It seems healed now except I am waiting for a corner of the nail to fall off and was wondering if I will have a new nail to grow in its place. Please advise. Thanks

Message: I have had the most awful problems with my nails.
I had fake nails for years, no problem until they cut me-then What a mess. Ended up at the dermatologist who said she had never seen such a mess. My nails were never any good after, when I started a new job about 18months ago where my hands are on constant display, I decided to try glue on nails. Now the glue has Totally Eaten Away My Nails.I don't know what to do:-( My hands are a mess and I am in front of people all day long.
Does anyone have any ideas? I am upset and my finger tips hurt, dry out, skin and bleed.I am so ashamed of my hands, its a constant problem and worry.

Message: Kim,
go to- www.beautytech.info
go down to the bottom of the page to nails.info there is a multitude of information on the effects of acrylics and problems associated with them. there are many other links on this site also with good information. it's the best site i've found. it definitely presents the dangers of wearing acrylics. if your looking for a "positive spin" to wearing them i'm not sure where to go-i've not found any.

Message: linda,
i think most of us in this forum are just "regular people" without medical backgrounds. the questions at the top of this page, first, need a doctor's opinion, whether it's a second, third or fortieth, and second, were asked anywhere from 1 to 2 years ago. i directed Kim to the best site i've found for "technical issues" with acrylics. i can only respond to situations i've actually been in and have personal experience with. i'm certainly not going to advise someone on medical issues.

Message: Hi. My mother has trouble with her fingernails falling off. They get really infected and just start coming off. She also has lost a lot of weight about 70 pounds within 3 months and has been diagnosed with brain tumors, some doctors say that she had brain tumors while some are reluctant to say. They say that she has severe scar tissue on the brain as well, whatever causes that, who know? They are trying to find out if she has MS as well. If anyone has had any symptoms similar to these please respond. My mother is very sick and they can't figure out what is wrong with her and we'd like to know since she's been really sick for a year and she's only 44 years old.

Message: Cristy,
I really wish we could give you some answers here, but we are NOT health care providers. The place to receive this kind of information would be medical sites, i.e. Mayo Clinic etc...........
I am sorry we can be of no benefit, but I do hope you find your answers. Please let us know how your Mum is doing!
