Subject: Pain after trimming nails?
Message: I'm sure this happens to a lot of people.
Sometimes after I've trimmed my nails they'll
have an intense pain "under" the nail. It hurts if
I press or pull on the fingertip (skin) or the top
of the nail. (Does that make sense?) This
seems to happen pretty randomly with me but
only after I've trimmed, so I thought I'd finally
strike out online and finally find out why after
years of putting up with this. ;)
I'm not cutting them insanely short, either: it's
just the "normal" trim length for a guy, cutting
the fingernails down so that's there's a thin
line of the "white" nail left... I'm not chopping
into the pink part, and they don't bleed or
anything. What's really odd is that a good
chunk of the time everything'll be fine, but thne
suddenly the pain'll show up after a trim, as far
as I can tell usually on my pointer or middle
fingers.
Any ideas on why this happens, and is there
anything I can do about it?

Message: The clippers are probably pushing the meat underneath (shoe horn cuticle) away from the nail. No big deal, just don't push those clippers so hard against the end of your finger from now on.
PS... men always cut them too short. You're supposed to leave 1/16" to look manicured *grin*

Message: I have the same problem, but always have it anytime I cut my fingernails. The skin gets extremely sensitive and after cutting I cannot touch the ends of my fingers or nails to anything without a extremely irritating feeling for days. I have tried every method of cutting my nails... A nail file, Clippers, scissors, ever a azor blade, and it's even sensitive when leaving 1/8" an iche or more. Please let me know if anyone knows a cure for this, thanks!
