Subject: Nail polish discoloration
Message: Hours after using either of two different good quality nail polishes, the polish begins to darken to a grayish purple color. Removal of the polish, however, reveals a healthy colored nail. This has happened 4 times in the last two weeks.

Message: What kind of base coat and top coat are you using? Sometimes those have weird results...
If you can tell me the brands on each you are using, I'll pose the question to some of my other nail tech friends and see what we can come up with on it.

Message: I was using OPI Envy nail strengthener followed by OPI nail lacquer Tutti Fruitti Tonga. I also used Beautiful by nature (Bath and Body Works) shell blush nail color.

Message: Sorry so long in getting back--it's been a busy week at work!
Ok, MY feelings on this... it MAY be your system is too acidic and affecting the pigments, OR your Nail Envy is rotten (assuming you are using it as base and top coats).
Everyone I talked to feels that it's the Nail Envy/top coat.
Look at your Nail Envy. Is it Clear and not pink? If it's pink, get a new bottle.
If it's not pink... get a new bottle (from another salon) and try that.
One other thing... if you got it at Walgreens, Eckerds or something like that... throw it away! It's probably old as the devil and they probably got it off the black market.
Note: ANY professional products you find in a store other than a salon had been diverted (probably to Mexico) and sat for several years before it got back to the states. Therefore the shelf life of the product has been long gone.
Ok, off the soap box now! I hope this helped!
