Subject: colored nail polish remover
Message: I've for yrs had a bad problem with biting my nails...I've grown them a few times, and managed to chew them off again...I think I completely broke the habit this time.......the problem is...when I grew them in the past, they were extremly pretty..thick, white tips, no breakage...and they were white as white can be....this time, I noticed they have a faint color of yellow...I still have my cutical and everything.....I've read this coloration was caused from using a nail polish remover that was tinted with color....if that's so...is there a way I can turn them back to white? I tried using whitening toothpaste.......do I have to just let them grow out?

Message: There are several things that can turn your nails yellow.
Age, smoking, and your polish. Those are the biggest anyway.
Remember to ALWAYS use a good base coat of at least a CLEAR polish before applying color to your nails. Any bold colors will stain the nails especially reds and burgundy's.
Try Efferdent tablets. Make your manicure bowl as warm as you want it, drop a tablet in and let your nails soak until it stops fizzing and starts turning clear again. Do this for both hands. Then take a nail brush and soap and scrub them really well over the tops and the undersides.
I do this with clients that have bad stains from smoking and not using base coats under polish.
Good luck!

Message: On a website, I read a way to get rid of nail polish stains on carpet. I haven't tried it, so I don't know if it works, but you can try it:
1. Apply acetone nail polish remover - then blot.
2. Mix one teaspoon of a neutral detergent (a mild detergent with no alkalies or bleaches) with a cup of lukewarm water - then blot. (the amount of detergent and water may vary depending on the size of the stain.
3. sponge with clean water - blot.
I hope it works for you!

Message: How do you apply nail stain without staining your entire hand, and if you happen to stain your cuticles, does it stay forever? I have purchased nail dye but am afraid to use it until I have further directions and can't seem to find directions on how to best apply it on the Internet.
Idon't want stained fingertips/hands for a month!!!

I am doing a science fair project on removing stains from fingernails after using red fingernail polish and i am testing the theory of using lemon juice to remove them. Has anybody ever used that theory? If you have did it work and have you ever tried anything else?
