Subject: help!! Questions??
Message: Hello wonderful ladies,
I have been so busy, as I am sure everyone else has been. I had meant to try to keep in touch better, but life is too busy. I do look in every once in a while, but don't leave a message. Reminds me of how my dear mom used to love to go window shopping as she called it. We didn't have much money and so she would go looking but didn't buy. To tell you the truth that is hard for me to do in reality when I go to the store, but I feel that is what I sometimes do with my e-mail or here. I think I will just read and catch up on the news and then leave a short note, but by the time I finish reading and sort of catching up (if I even have time to do that) then it is time to get off the computor, and I didn't even get to leave a note.
But to get to my main point of this note. I have a question or two. I tried to use the NGF with my nail tips on but it was such a pain trying to keep the nail tips on they kept coming off and I kept gluing them back on....because I had that special Mary Kay event and I didn't want to have short nails for it. I did continue to to do that and when I got home Nov 6th, I took off the fake tips and have been going natural and using the NGF twice a day and sometimes even three times. So my question or comment is my nails keep breaking and cracking or splitting on the ends. They are now shorter than when I first took off my nails. I am to be honest getting just a tiny frustrated. My thumb nails are the worst. No nails other than on the nail bed - which is good that it is at least on the nail bed. I think that is the right term.
My nails seem so fragil and flimsy. and I am trying to be careful with them. I have to keep trimming what nail is past the skin which is hardly any. I was trying to preserve them and wasn't trimming them when they would break or chip - I thought at least there was some length, but my oldest daughter said they looked aweful where they were so uneven shapped and said they would looked better if I cut them back and shaped them. Really nothing to shape. I feel so naked... Sorry don't mean to whine....
I am hoping to get encouragment and ??? My thumb nails also have indentations and ridges on the indentations which are on the very end or edge of the nail where a nail tip would be. Plus when they grow out alittle bit then it cracks or splits. I have to cut it off because it catches on things. I am seeing the moon on fingers nails that I haven't seen is this a good sign? Also I think when I wore the full nail glue ons, I must have pressed them on harder than I thought because as my nails seem to grow the nail bed is changing shape. The ends of some of my nails are curving slightly up. Just a little bit, I only notice it when I run another finger aling the length of my nails or study them or when I am rubbing the NGF on them. Sounds weird I know.
Can someone please tell me if these are normal things after taking off the fakes or acyrlics? And also about how long before my nails take off and start growing and not breaking, chipping and etc. Will they get strong and not so flimsy? Do I need to do something different? Should I do the NGF more than 2 times a day?
Well I guess this has gotten long enough. Thank you if you read this far. I value you opinions and help.
Hope you are all doing well. I will check back later, I need to go do a few things.
Blessings
Doris

Message: It will take about 3 months before your nails grow out, and until then they will be very thin and weak. I found that I had to just suck it up and get used to shorter nails. It will be a year in mid December and my nails are beautiful now. I rarely wear nail polish anymore. I used to feel naked without nail polish before.

Message: Hi again Lorraine,
I used to use all kinds of acryalics the liquid and powder, to glue on nails both tips and full nail glue ons and other types, but all of them were the french nail look, so I miss the length, hardness and the look of the french nails.
Is 3 months about the length of time it takes for the nails to grow out and the damage part of the nail to grow out to the end? I know everyone's nails grow at a differnt rate, but maybe this is the average?
You said it has been about a year and it took about 3 months. So how long are your nails normaly now and do they break, crack, split? Or are they usualy pretty strong and long?
I am really looking forward to what they will be like after a few months.
Thank you again for responding. I love the way everyone is so helpful here and is either going through the same nail problems or already did and can give advise.
Have a great rest of the weekend.

Message: My nails have really not split or peeled since using NGF. They were not too long but they were healthy. Lately though, they have become longer. I developed an allergy to the acrylic nails, so they had to come off. I really missed the length, but I did not miss the cost of maintaining them. I was using the NGF 4-5 times a day at first and now I use it every couple of days. Your nails grow faster in the summer as well.

Message: I really can't relate to any of your problems, Doris. I guess my nails were really never damaged from acrylics since it had been a while since I've used acrylics. Though it sounds like your nails are very damaged from the acrylics and glue-on-nails so I would give your nails a longer time than the average person before they get up to par. The problem I am dealing with now is dry cuticles and can't relate to most of the things you mentioned. I love wearing nailpolish but with NGF it just doesn't seem possible because the nail is so hydrated that nailpolish doesn't seem to adhere to the nail for long periods of time. Actually though it's a small price to pay. Would I ever want to go back to the dry, brittle nails of the past? It is a simple NO WAY! What I do admire about you is that you have not given up with the NGF and just keep asking questions. There's nothing wrong with that and the ladies here are quite helpful. Hopefully more ladies will chime in and help you. As I said though it sounds like your nails are quite damaged though. That's just my opinion though and since I've never had any of these problems your dealing with. I know I'm not really much help but thought I'd give you some encouragement. I really think you're doing an amazing job with your persistance! BTW, with my splitting/peeling of the nails I saw positive results in a matter of days when using the NGF but then again my nails weren't very damaged to begin with but were very "soft." Sure they do split/peel occasionally but nowhere like they use to. I'd say that has been cut down something like 99%.
