Subject: Nail Salons In The News
Message: I was watching our local news the other day and they said with SO MANY nail salons popping up everywhere the competition is really great. What does this mean for the consumer? The salons have to cut corners in order to compete with their competition. What's ONE of the biggest things that suffer - sterilization of utensils. Naturally there are plenty more but after seeing this little snipet on the news you wouldn't catch me dead stepping foot into a nail salon! There were consumers that had horror stories showing their nails and what happened to them and it stopped me dead in my tracks!

Message: Hol, I agree with you. Several months ago, on my local news, they showed nail shops in Dallas, TX, about 60 miles east from where I live. The salons did not sterilize their foot spas and implements. As a result, a lady got a staph infection and now she'll never get a pedicure again. Another lady in Fort Worth, close to my hometown, died of a staph infection. Several years ago, on 20/20 and other news programs, they talked about MMA acrylic and showed pictures of nails damaged from it. A woman from another state got a fungal infection and didn't have any nails for a year as a result of a technician piercing all of her nail beds to prepare them for fakes. I will most likely never step foot into the salons.

Message: I went to an auction last night and there was a silent auction and raffle prizes amongst the rest of things. I found that manicures were being given away left and right. You wouldn't catch me even stepping into a nail shop!
