Subject: Buffing n bumps
Message: I used to buff my nails very often, almost weekly.
I recently developed bumps across my nails. Its seems to have grown out with the bumps, and is moving along with the growth of the nail, however very slowly. It is most pronounced on my thumb nails.
Is it possible that excessive buffing has caused this. I am now scared to buff em...
Thank you

Message: lost mermaid,
I am not a physician or care giver of any sort so I would suggest that you see a dermatologist for facts. But I would just suggest that with all things in life, a bit of moderation. Buffing weekly does not, however, seem excessive to me. It may be that you apply too much pressure as you buff. You know there is a lot of friction and heat involved during this process so caution is wise.
See your dermatologist to make an accurate diagnosis though.

Message: Buff the new growth area, but if you have to just very gently buff the rest of the nail & be careful not to thin it out, cos yes you can damage them if you buff to vigiously.
