Subject: want long strong french tip natural nails
Message: Ok so I want everything. I've tried lots of things and nothing seems to keep my natural nails from breaking. I used to use all kinds of acrylics. Started using them aprox. 25 years ago, but in the last 3 years I wanted to go natural. I used to feel like a liar (but didn't want anyone to know) when someone would ask are those your real nails. and although I was using acrylics (did them myself)someone said well they are your real nails underneath. because my own nails were the same length I was just using the acrylic to support or protect my nails so they didn't break. I have used silk nails, angel nails, pro strong, nail teck and none of them kept my nails from breaking other than the acrylics and now I am using the glue on nails. I have literaly drawers full of nail products, polishes and etc that are supposed to make your nails unbreakable and strong, creams to rub in and such, sound almost like this one and didn't work. (not trying to bash this one - just leary I've tried so many things.) I really want to go natural. .... But I also want long not short nails, strong so they don't break or bend alot. I don't understand how your nails can be long and strong and yet flexible and benable??? Not to be too picky but I also like the look of white french tip nails. So I always get the glue on french tip nails.
Is there any help for me will this product really work? I have one other problem.... probably vanity. But I don't want to have to go through the short stage of nails. You know taking off my glue on nails and starting from scratch. I am terrible I know and maybe no one here will will understand or think I am too weird, but I am working through feeling inadiquet and self confidence and I know God doesn't make junk....so if no one understands that is ok. But if someone does and this product does work and I don't have to go throught the short nail stage...please help me. Also do you have a trial kit or something...samples. I do daycare in my home and when school started in Aug I lost 3/4 of my daycare and because of social service parents not getting recertified (they don't let the home daycares know anymore) I am either not getting paid for two families for service of the last 2 months or maybe not at all unless I can get water out of a turn up. so I am worried about even getting the bills paid. But my nails are one of the things I like most... vanilty I guess so I am going to try to find a way if you think this will be something to help / work for me. Sorry to be so long winded.
Sincerly

Message: Hi Cheryl,
I am puzzled? I am not sure if you didn't have time to finish your note on this subject, or???
I really am interested in learning more about this nail product. Have you used it long and what is your opinion on this product? I would like to find something that works. I realize nothing is an over night thing. Nails don't grow quickly at least mine don't seem to. I think I read on one of the messages that the product can be used over acyrlics. I didn't know if this was something that might work for me to begin with, so that I could still have long nails, until mine grow out and are stronger and longer on their own. I am sure to begin with - if I did use the product over
the acrylics at first that my own nails wouldn't get the full benifit or be as strong as they will be once I can put it directectly on my own nails.
Well just thought I would check back to see if anyone had replyied. I really do want something to help. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Message: Hi Doris!
Welcome to the forum :)
Yes, you can use this product over acrylics, but you'll only be getting a fraction of the benefits. One of the beauties of Nail Growth Formula is that when used on bare nails, it penetrates the nail, sealing it against the bad moisture and sealing in the vital, good moisture. Soooo, while you would be helping your cuticles along, you'd not see the full benefit of the product.
Many of us here yanked off the acrylics and went cold turkey, allowing NGF to work it's magic. I really believe that is the best way to go.
It's kinda like trying to lose weight - it's not going to happen without sacrifice and resolve!
I hope this helps!!!

Message: Hi Moi,
Thank you for the welcome. I didn't know there was a fingernail message group. This is kind of neat. Funny but it almost feels like a little family or community here.
I am sure you are right and really that is the response I was pretty sure I would get. I just am not sure I can go the cold turkey short nail thing. My natural short nails are so stubby and terrible. I love my long nails. Again I know it is a vain thing, but my nails have always been one of the few things I have liked about me. One of the things I do for me. I am probably not making sense??
So ok let's say I get real brave and go cold turkey and take off the nails. My real nails are pretty much as short as they can get. And I know my nail growth is going to be a little bit different than someone elses, but let's say on the average. How long would it be before my nails are maybe a 1/4 in long? I have a special occassion coming up the beginning of Nov and for sure I want them to be long and beautiful then. Is that at all possible?
Besides my day job I am a Mary Kay consultant and I need to look my best including my nails and I don't want to feel self conscience or want to hide my nails. I know it is a silly thing, but then we are all silly about something.
Thank you again for the welcome. I look forward to hearing from you.

Message: Doris,
If your nails are as short as I think they are, I seriously doubt they would be long and lovely by November. My pinky nails were no more than 1/4 in long when I started NGF and though they did grow faster, there's no way they grew THAT fast. If this is a really important thing for you, IF I WERE YOU, I would keep the acrylics on until after the event then take them off and 'begin the healing'.
I know it's not easy to go cold turkey. I had acrylics for so many years and the last fill I had gone for was so painful I was in tears. I left without the fill and never looked back. My poor nails looked pathetic for a long time, but I would have to say that within the first week of NGF, I could see such a big difference in my nails. They were pink and healthy (albeit short) looking. The cuticles showed drastic improvement! But it still took many months for the damage to grow out and for the nail bed to heal enough that I was no longer embarrassed to have people look at them.
They are your nails, and it has to be your decision, but I would remind you that the longer you put it off, the longer it will be before you have your own naturally gorgeous nails!
And you know, as a beauty consultant, you could always mention to your clients that you've decided to go acrylic free and to please forgive you during your grow out time.
Good luck!

Message: Hi Doris,
We are all a bit into I, me, my, mine, NOW! these days..... Self included at times.
The nature of the beast is that the natural nails WILL break off. No matter how strong, or how flexible. The structure will only go so far. Those that believe otherwise are just a weeeeeee bit delusional.
We are all put together a bit differently, so what works for one, in very short order, may take months for someone else to realize benefits.
The Natural Nails Growth Formula, (lovingly dubbed NGF by these fabulous ladies) is a product that will help you recover your nails with a bit of loving efforts.
It balances the moisture, as indicated by Moi. It stimulates cell activity to increase the rate of growth, and strengthens the nails over time, while they remain flexible. The first thing almost all of notice is that the cuticles become soft and supple once again. They are easily maintained by just pushing them back with your fingertip while applying the NGF daily. (And you can indeed begin the recovery process while the acrylics are still in place.... Just concentrate your efforts on the matrix area and try to coat those cuticles. A word of warning though.....As the acrylics grow out, they are very likely to catch or snag on threads and what have you... this may lead to them being ripped off by accident. I would humbly suggest that you take the time and effort to soak them off so that there is less likelihood of that sort of incident happening.
The formula has a cumulative effect, so over time you cut back and use less and less. Once you find the ideal for your personal needs you maintain that routine.... I apply the formula every 10 to 14 days when I relax and give myself a manicure.
Hope this information will give you some insight.
And as Moi said, Welcome to the forum!"
We love new faces in here. You will get to know every one in time..... Don't let us run ya off with our insanity! All in good fun.

Message: Doris, Welcome!! I think you will be pleasantly suprised as to how fast the NGF will work on your nails. I have been using the product for almost a year now. I have not had acrylics in almost 5 years and my nails look great (most of the time). We just moved - so there was packing, unpacking, cleaning, etc - and most of my nails survived. There are several things you can do to approve your hands and nails....
1. Order the product - even the small jar, it's enough to see if you are going to like the product (I am sure you will). It will hydrate your nails and cuticles and almost overnight you will see a difference. Use the product a couple of times a day, just like Barbara recommends.
2. Use a good hand cream. There are a couple that I like. L'Occtaine with Shea butter and Vaseline Intensive Care for Healthy hands and nails. Both of these seem to "seal in" the NGF and make it work better. Not a scientific result, just my personal preference :o)
3. Take a biotin supplement. I prefer the Andrew Lessman product called Healthy Hair, Skin and Nails. But I know some to the ladies here and on another beauty board talk about getting a less expensive version of the biotin at Wal-Mart.
4. Go all natural, just as Moi suggested. It will be difficult at first - no polish, no acrylics - nothing. Just your nails and the NGF. I think you will be suprised at the results.
And lastly, it's not vanity. We all want our skin and hair and nails to look nice. As women, we spend so much time taking care of others that it is easy to forget to take care of ourselves. Invest in yourself and the results will be there. Good luck and let us know your results if you decide to order. I don't think you will be dissappointed.

GO NEKKED!!!! We like nekked here!
Actually, that is the best way to give the product a chance a jump starting the process.....

Message: doris,
i tend to be the "first one off the block" here sometimes, and i've found it's best to let the other ladies come in first. i can be very bunt and abrupt sometimes, but that's just me, and i never, ever have intentions of hurting feelings. i believe there are no excuses. sometimes you just have to jump in head first. sometimes that's good, sometimes it's not. i went through the acrylic nightmare about 6 years ago.
what a mess. they will destroy any hope of healthy nails. but, they are a habit many women get into and won't quit. they do look nice, having all 10 the same length, polish doesn't chip, french manicures look neat and pink. who wouldn't want that? i felt like i was trying to take credit for something i had nothing to do with and then i started having allergic reaction problems and the decision was made easy for me.
you won't have pretty nails for the special event you have in nov. if you feel better with them on, them keep them for that. when you're ready, soak them off correctly and start at the beginning like so many of us have here. it might take months to recover them, but at least, you, are the one in control of them. as far as having short, damaged nails for your mary kay events, women will understand. and if they don't, then you don't need them as clients! when you're ready, we're here.

We really do have a wonderful, loving group of ladies here - so please, please, do come back often (daily if time allows) and share whatever health/beauty/life experiences you have to offer.
Cheryl - you're a hoot! We love you even if you are off your block - that IS what you said, isn't it? :)
