Subject: Brownish line down fingernail
Message: This is kind of a wierd problem and can find little on it on the internet. All my fingernails are perfect except one... On my left hand, my index finger has a kind of organish brown line going down it about 3mm tick from end to end, its been like this for at least 3 years now I think but when it started it was a thin line now and thought nothing of it, it was also very faint back then, but now it seems to of stopped changing darkness and seems to maintain the width now. It's about my skin color just a few shades darker. Kind of like i would look if I had a tan. It goes from the base of the nail the completel lengh out like its growing with the nail. If you look under the nail where it grew past the finger its like the nail is the part that has the color to it... any idea what is going on?

Message: smurf,
it's more common than you think. we have many incredibly tiny capillaries running under the nail bed and when these break and bleed, for many varied reasons, a faint brown line will appear. because it has changed in appearance i would definitely, without a doubt, have a dermatologist look at it. better safe than sorry.

Message: I think I remember about 4yrs ago having this finger slammed into a door closeing but I cant remember for sure, but would it really stay like this for that long if it got hurt?
