Subject: Nail Shaping
Message: Hi Ladies:
What shape do you think is the most flattering for nails? When I had my acrylics, the nail tech always squared them off at the ends. Now that I have natural nails, I can't seem to get my nail into that shape. They tend to curve downward as they grow (especially the index fingers.) So they are therefore growing more rounded.
I was just wondering if anyone else gives any thought to their nails' shape or if you just kind of let them grow into their own shape.
Thanks!

Message: I like to wear my "squoval" - square with a little oval thrown in.

Message: I know exactly what you mean, debodel! I notice the more I "round" the sides of the nail the quicker they are to break. That was at least when I had weaker nails and I'm honestly still in that habit of "squovaling" them.

Message: Me too. I aim for squared off, but haven't achieved it yet. I'm wondering if, because natural nails are much thinner than acrylic nails whether its even going to be possible to achieve that look.

Message: I used to do the oval shape when I kept them long, so they wouldn't look like the fakes. But with them in a shorter, "sportier model" I too keep them squoval, just as Deb and so many others.
The squared off tip helps to *disburse* any impact from head on collisions, and the curved corners just give a bit of shape for the gentle side. Does that make sense? Well, I think you all understand what I am trying to say. Have a GREAT Sunday ladies.

Message: Thanks, Ladies. I may just pop into my old nail salon to have my old nail tech shape my nails. They also do a nice job with eyebrow waxing!
