I went through a similar thing and what I found was that because my natural nails were growing longer, the natural shape was 'showing' through. Does that make sense? When my nails were short, they were ugly but even. And when I had acrylics, as the acrylic nails grew out, they would have to file them to shape them to look normal. Now, since I have no acrylics on there's no way to shape them and there are 2 that take off in any direction they want. I started thinking that maybe they were following the sun, kinda like plants (just kidding). So, most likely your nails would have been growing that way anyway, but now that you're paying more attention to them and letting them grow out on their own it's more noticible.
