Hi -
I have only polished my nails maybe once every 10 years. I recently put nailpolish and nail hardener on because I had cut one nail in the middle of the nail and was afraid of losing the nail. I like the way the nail polish looks but my nails *hurt* (constant aching) while I have the polish on. Do nails *breathe*? Am I suffocating my nails when I put polish on them? Why do they hurt?

Like you, my nails ache with nail polish on and so i just don't wear it, maybe it is a hurdle that has to be got over when you start using polish and when you get used to it, it stops happening? I asked around but no one else seems to have this problem. My nails also ache if they get over a certain length and that isn't really very long at all, i just have to keep them fairly short. Maybe this is the price I pay for all those years of dedicated nail biting? I stopped 10 years ago.
