When you use the same "tools" to do your finger and toe nails it sounds like a fungus infection. It won't stop before all the nails are off and if you want to re-grow them you should see a doctor NOW. He might remove the rest of your nails completely to apply a solution to kill the infection but then they will grow back, up to the end of the nailbeds.
If you don't want to or can't see a doctor, throw your nail tools in boiling water to sterilize them, then cut 1 (one) nail very very short so that all that discolored stuff is gone, put medical disinfectant on the nailbed (several times a day for at least a week) then sterilize the tools again and do the next nail and so on. The idea is not to spread germs from one nail to the other. This idea might not work when the infection is too far gone, it all depends on cutting the discolored nail off and a bit more.

I had a good friend who slammed their finger in a door. The nail went black and did fall off. The nail has been damaged and brused so their is not much you can do to prevent it from falling off. Keep it covered when it does come off but don't forget to give the nail air.

Hi, I lost my nail through a fight.... will it grow back if it was connect 2 a acrylic nail? I lost it January 1st then it was still connected then I got the acrylic part removed..Then just the dead nail was still on...then just Febuary 3 the dead nail from the root fell off....will it grow back or did I lose it 4 good?!?!?!!!

I jammed the tip of my nail (fingernail) almost 2 months ago (sometime mid-late january) and of course it went black from blood and bruising. Now it's mid march and the dead nail is still attached, showing no signs of falling off anytime soon. Should I wait or go to the doctor to have it checked out?

I don't think it's growing out, it seems to be the same length it was at the time of my jamming it in the door. But then again, my nails are short anyway.

sounds like you traumatized the matrix-the actual living, growing tissue beneath the nail. i'm guessing a Dr. would be able to tell you whether it will grow again.
