Subject: Nails not growing
Message: Hi everyone, what does it mean when your nails don't grow? I've lost weight over the past year unintentionally, I've never gone on a diet before because I'm not overweight or anything, and my nails have stopped growing. I'm not able to gain weight, I can eat and eat and eat. My toe nails and finger nails haven't grown at all in over a year. I haven't trimmed them at all, and I don't bite them either. I'm being tested for possible hormone problems the doctors think might be from using the drug Advair for asthma. So that probably is what the problem is, but I'm just wondering what the exact problem is that could cause this to happen; what the drug does to the body? Thanks!!

Message: glenn,
have you been checked for hyperthyroidism? losing weight, eating, but not gaining weight are classic symptoms of the thyroid being over active.

Message: Gee, now you have my curious as to what asthma drugs inhibit that could cause this. I take Singulair but haven't had that side effect. After you rule out any possible physical conditions (like thyroid issues as cheryl has suggested), you could try taking a Hair, Skin and Nails supplement to get things moving again.
