Subject: I feel a wee bit of a fraud
Message: After weeks of not breaking a nail I managed to rip one a bit down at the base of the lovely white extension. Not to be beaten I resorted to supaglue and believe it or not it has joined up and looks okay!! Its not very natural though is it ? And theres probably no way the ngf will get through the glue. Should I just have trimmed them all back to match or is this slight relapse into old habits forgivable?

Message: Well, it's not that far from what I have done... where my nails always chip when they reach a certain length, I would apply a little glue and polish to get them past the breaking length. It works. When they are well past the point that they normally break, I would file down past the chip but not as far down as the point that they broke. Does that make sense??? Heck, after all, they are your nails and what you described, if I understood it right, doesn't damage the healthy nail or the nail bed.

Message: Oh well I don't feel so bad now. Must admit I was shocked when it tore. They'd been going quite well. I haven't even used polish yet. Just can't believe how well the glue works. But I am hosting a party in two weeks and I wanted them all long for that. We are renewing our vows for our 30th anniversay and I want my hands looking nice for the ring exchange.

Message: I can understand, Helen, you wanting 10 long nails for your anniversary party and I probably would have done the same. If there is no special event coming up I refuse to go back to my old habits of taking out the crazy glue and doing it that way. As you said you doubt the NGF will go through the crazy glue anyway. I notice I have to cut all ten nails about every 3-4 weeks so I'm wondering if your nail will look decent by the anniversary party. BTW, congratulations on 30 years. Hubby and I just passed our 24th so I keep giving him HINTS for next year which will be the big 25. I would love to go to the place where we went on our honeymoon in Bermuda but you know most guys can't put two and two together and things will probably never get done. He says "save your milk money" (lol). If he had any romantic bone in his body he'd do it himself.

Message: Strange isn't it Hol, not too many men come up with original romantic ideas. I just went ahead and organised our first trip overseas at the beginning of the year. It was once we were away that my husband was able to relax and remember why we were still together. Then for him, being romantic just happened.

Message: Helen, I sure hope the romantic bug bites my hubby but FAST. We go to the Jersey shore about this time every year and after dinner I literally have to say to my hubby "wanna go for a walk with Ranger (the dog) and I?" He can't figure that one out by himself! Go figure? Just that time away from the kids and how we use to act in our 20s is foreign to him!!!!!!!!!!! I hate to paint a picture but remember the snapping bra days. I can't stand it now but there are other ways to do things!

Message: I have a temporary fix for your nails but it's not as permanent as a tip or a fake nail. You take a teabag, cut it open and empty the tea out. The teabag is dry. Cut a small strip of the teabag, big enough to cover the tear. Put clear polish on the torn area of the nail, place the strip of teabag over the tear, and tuck the teabag all around the tear, and put a coat of clear polish over the entire nail. Yes, it's not the best way, and it will be highly polished, but use NGF and your buffer to make all the other nails highly polished, and keep doing that until the nail grows out, and you don't have an acrylic nail on your finger. It does work, and each application does work for days or a week. It's like a silk wrap.
