Subject: Heartguard vs Revolution!!!! LISTEN UP!!!!!
Message: Okay everyone, you all know how much I love my babies, (dogs)! Today we took Wu to the vet and they did a test for heart worms and my Wu has heart worms. We are sticklers for keeping our pets in the best possible condition. The vet had switched us from Heartguard to Revolution about 4 years ago. Until then Heartguard was our standard for these animals for all of the years we owned and loved them. I am now in absolute shock and want to warn you all to get your animals tested. The new vet said that so far, 9 other animals at this animal hospital have tested positive for heart worms....... I intend to not let this one go! My Wu is everything to me and this will not be swept under a rug..... Please check your pets!

Message: i don't blame you one bit barbara! i would be furious too. i just looked at dixie's heartworm meds and it's called interceptor. her vet changed them a few years ago too, but she tested negative in may. she only gets them from may to october here. what do you do for Wu to get rid of them? do they still use arsenic?

Message: The short answer is yes Cheryl. That will kill the heart worms and hopefully not Wu too. I am a bit uncertain about the whole process. Fortunately this is not something that has ever occurred with any of our pets before..... We have to wait for the weather to cool off a bit to begin the process. So I think we are talking October beginning the process. They say it is very uncomfortable for the pets. I just can not tell you how this pains me!

Message: i can't imagine putting dixie through it at her age. Wu is strong and healthy and will be afterwards too. i would just want to strangle someone! did you just find out through his regular blood test?

Message: He is strong and otherwise very healthy! So that is a point in his favor. Pfizer is in NSW! So it will be no easy task to call them on the carpet about what their drug is, or is not, doing to our pets. I just hope that Sarah and Cheyenne are free from these things. They run this place and there are misquitoes and gnats, snakes, rats, rabbits, foxes, you name it, they are on this corner! So we keep up with all their shots and meds. It is not like we have missed giving them the meds at any time! Yeah, I am a bit angry about this one.....Pfizer is going to pay for these vet bills at the very least!

Message: Like you Cheryl, my baby (Ranger) is on Interceptor too. I think we all call them our babies! She gets checked for heartworms yearly even though she's on the meds all year round. His philosophy is she doesn't get checked no meds. The big problem here in NJ is ticks. Ranger is on K9 Advantix for this and she also has the tick vaccine. No matter where you live there's always something you have to worry about and different vets say different things. It's a lose lose situation.

Message: Barbara, so sorry to hear about Wu. But he will come through with flying colors. Heartworm is very treatable. My mom's MinPin had heartworm years ago. He handled the treatment well and lived many more years to a ripe old age.
Our vet tried to change my little Taz's heartworm about a year ago. I answered her with an emphatic NO. He is on Heartgard. I know that if your pet contracts heartworm while on the Heartgard prevention, that Heartgard will pay for the majority of the cost of the treatment. That tells me that they totally believe in their product to protect our little fur babies.
Is Revolution the injectible precention? I am not real familiar with it but will definatley do my research now.
Again, Barb, sorry to hear about Wu, but I echo the sentiments of Hol and Cheryl - he is strong, healthy and very loved. Keep us posted.

Message: Thanks all!
Deb, the Revolution is a little squeeze tube of liquid that you apply topically..... Between the sholder blades.......
At a girl, don't let them fool you into using anything else. I am trying to figure out a day when I can devote strictly to finding Pfizer and finding out just what they will do... Probably nothing, or so they think. I will really make a public statement about them if they do not take care of this because we are going to have the girls tested next week, and you better know there will be a hot time in the old town if either or both of them is effected by heartworms too!

Message: Barb,
I was encouraged to hear Deb say it's very treatable!!!! I DO know what you're feeling because when my sweet Boxer was diagnosed with a brain tumor, I was devistated.
You know we all love you and support you. If you need anything at all, holler!

Message: Deb I have their address in New South Wales. But I can not find a phone number on them..... It is not on the information in the packaging with the revolution. (fancy that!) So if you find that it would be most helpful....
Moi, I know... With what Deb and Cheryl have said, my mind is a bit more at ease. I know nothing about this.... We have never been confronted with a sick animal before! I am at a real loss on how to help him.
