Message: Moi - what sort of problem are you having - dryness or irritation? Years ago, my derm recommended Purpose bar soap. They still like that one. Back when we exchanged the Box, I snagged a Perlier Almond Bath Milk that Deb had contributed. I LOVE that one, very gentle. You might even wish to check into organic products from either the Jason, Alba or Avalon organics lines. My grocery store stocks them. If you are really needing to calm down a dry problem, CeraVe cleanser is divine for face and body. If it is an itchy problem, any of the Aveeno's with Oatmeal might help. Good luck!

Message: Moi, what problem are you specifically having? During the winter my skin (face) is so dry that it hurts so I have no alternative but to do something about it. I switch off between Elysee Liposomal creme (use during the day under makeup because it's non-greasy) which I get at HSN and at nite I usually use some moisturizer with a shea butter base. L'Occitane makes MANY products. They have body washes and bath soaps amongst things. Its base is shea butter and that's a must for me in the winter. If you have a L'Occitane boutique near you you can check it out or it can be purchased at QVC. Their prices are much better than the boutiques. At least the kits are and you can try many of their products. I use many different bath washes but ALWAYS put use moisturizer on my legs be it summer or winter because the dryness shows up there first ALWAYS. Seems the hair on my legs grows faster there if I don't moisturize on anyway. I associate the look to looking like scales on a fish. I also use Philosophy body wash but I don't think it's anything to write home about. I'm just using up my stash. Now if you'd really want to go a cheap route I'd try some of the shea butter base products you can get at Walmart.

Message: Neutrogena Rainbath. This is all my husband can use in the winter time due to eczema. When our grand daughter was born we soon discovered that she suffered from eczema as well. My daughter took her to different doctors, tried different creams, different soaps, etc. After about a year of watching this battle - I bought her a bottle of the Neutrogena - viola, no more eczema. My grand daughter has to use it year round. Hubby can get by with using it only in the winter. Good luck in your quest.

Message: Thank you for the replies!!! My problem is twofold. 1. I've started having a lot of itching and rashes and 2. a few years ago I had a heart test and had an allergic reaction to the adhesive used to attach the little monitor doo-dads but only in 1 of the spots. Now over the past several months it's been sore and itchy also. I had to stop using my BBW Bath Wash. I've tried Anti-bacterial soaps, moisturing soaps, and Aveeno for sensitive skin.
Any other suggestions now that you have more details?

Message: ruth,
i would try fragrance-free, preservative-free. there is a perfume oil company i found many years ago, based in miami, that makes duplicates, in oil, of all the perfumes selling in retail today. they talk about so many products having fillers, alcohol, and preservatives in them, especially in perfume, and how we are allergic to all the "extras" in them, not the actual scent itself, like so many of us believe. many times i have sprayed perfume on my wrist and started itching. PaulasChoice.com offers a hair and body shampoo that is free of everything. it smells pretty bland, just clean, but it comes in a very large bottle and rinses well. i just went through a large bottle and i never finish anything-well, i DO finish my NGF!! hope you can find a solution.

Message: I know what you mean about the adhesive, Moi. That's me too. If I have a bandaid on for a long time or just the adhesive like to cover up stitches when I had them I get a reaction. Now my reaction isn't right away like yours but eventually.

Message: I'm allergic to adhesive too, Moi. And, in the Winter if I use the wrong products and don't slap on a heavy moisturzer after a shower, I will itch my back till it bleeds.
After reading (and following) that book The Skin Type Solution, I discovered that I cannot use any foaming cleaners. What a difference that has had on my face! I use the CeraVe cleanser. That may not be real economical for you to use in the shower, but maybe you could try it sparingly on a washcloth just till you rebuild your skin barrier. It's really good in that it has ceramides and your skin won't have that tight feeling before moisturizing. The lotion is wonderful too. Many of the products we use strip that barrier and our tolerance becomes lowered and more proned to reaction.

Message: Well, I was at Walgreens and picked up the Neutrogena Rainbath. Not cheap, but hopefully that one will work. Does it come in different flavors? I only saw the original. I'll give it a couple days and see what happens. If this isn't the one, I still have the other recommendations here. Thanks again, ladies!

Message: Moi, I think there are 3 different "flavors"
the original one (kind of gold in color)
Marine scent (blue in color)
Citrus scent (pink/red in color)
Hubby has used them all, but prefers the original one.

Message: I agree that fragrance-free soaps work best on sensitive skin. But my mom also has sensitive skin; hers becomes dry really easily. We use Tea Tree Oil soap. It smells really good and leaves sort of a tingly feeling. I think the kind we use is by Paul Mitchell and we buy it at Trade Secret, a beauty supply store in our local mall. They also have tea tree oil shampoos and conditioners. Those products are pricey, but I think they're worth it.
