Message: Well that IS awesome! Oh the other hand, mine that is, I broke my pinkie down in the quick today making up the bed, so I am doing the "cut those beggars off" manicure this evening! I just abhor having to cut them all off. But 9 over the ends and one in the quick just does not work well in my humble opinion. (What is a mother to do?!?!?!?!)

Message: I broke one of my nails a few weeks ago just doing something normal so I cut ALL nine fingers. I've got a few weeks on you though, Barb, but they're still at the short stage. Would I go back to the other weak nails that CONSTANTLY broke. NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Message: Most of my nails have tips past the end of my fingers so that's a thrill for me. I discovered that with daily swimming they would get a little soft, so I started applying NGF before going into the pool and again after I got out and my nails aren't getting soft at all.

Message: Moi, I have found that applying one coat of CLEAR nailpolish strengthens the nail but you may be onto something about the water bit. When the clear nailpolish is wearing off you can't tell. Only lasts for about 4 days though.

Message: I know I shouldn't say this, Girls, but my nails look GREAT lately. (If I break a pinky tomorrow I'll spit!) I'm actually wearing polish these days, and doing my NGF once daily at night before bed. When I think back to a year ago this time how pathetic they looked when I removed the acrylics, I can't believe how healthy they are now. Better than ever, even when I was young. THANK YOU, Barbara!
Hol - I know you are on a quest for good polishes. I have found that any frosted OPI has a softer finish on me. By that I mean that the frosteds don't seem to form an unbendable, brittle surface. Have you ever noticed that or used OPI? Brittleness is what ALWAYS does me in with polish and undoes the strong flexibility I get from my NGF. And over that I am using Barielle's Manicure Extender. This is a FABULOUS product in that it contains no toulene, formeldehyde or dyes. It doesn't smell at all and the coating almost feels sort of rubbery. Doesn't chip or peel! I need to try this product alone sometime. My manicure lasts about a week. Then I remove and do a few days of just NGF.

Message: Thanks for the suggestion about the frosts, Lynnie. As a rule I like frosts better than matt finishes. I guess I'm still from the 60s. I never noticed nails being more flexible with frosts than matts (is that what you mean?). Presently, I put one coat of clear on my nails sometimes and just that one coat makes them stronger but still somewhat flexible. The nails don't break at all like they use to and when the clear is wearing off you can't tell like with other harsh colors. Actually any color that is soft will work. That Barielle stuff I have to look into. Sounds like a good idea. You know at this point I'll try anything. Isn't that how it always is that we have to try something to see if it works for us?

Message: Well, the stress of having a job at my local flea market has wrecked havoc on my fingernails lately. Several broke off pretty short a few weeks ago, and I had to cut the rest off.
Lori, I also give myself those French manicures (and pedicures too). A few years ago, my nails were naturally long and I got a lot of compliments on them. A few friends of mine thought they were fake! I also got compliments from a few of my now former teachers on how great they looked. How I miss those days.
