Subject: yellow discoloration of nails
Message: My natural fingernails and toenails have a yellow discolorations…I use a clear base nail polish before I paint my nails and I usually use light colors such as pink or a light brown to compliment my skin tone…but when I go to change my nail polish my nails are always yellow…I sometimes go a few days without painting then at all but that doesn’t help…I heard it might be from lack of iron…is this true? what else can I try to rid my nails from this dreadful discoloration?

Message: Have you tried rubbing lemon juice on your nails? That always worked for me in the past.

Message: If there is any Yellow #5 in any of the polish you use, there is your culprit! Really simple. This color penetrates STEEL! Don't know why, but it is a nightmare. Quit with the polish containing yellow #5 and once the discoloration has grown out, you should be okay.

Message: Yellowing of nails: Another common problem with nails is the yellowing of nails probably a result of smoking, using medicine and drugs or the pigment in certain nail enamels. Yellow nails are usually caused by wearing dark coloured nail polish without using a protective clear base coat, so wear one in future to prevent this from happening. Try switching to paler coloured polishes as these contain lower levels of pigments that are less likely to stain your nails, and go easy on the nicotine. To cure yellow nails rub them with lemon juice to remove the stains, then massage your hands and nails with a hand cream to replenish the moisture levels. If your problem recurs, consult your doctor to check that there is no underlying cause.
hope it helps!

Message: there are a lot of different fungus out there. only way a dr. can tell is if they take a culture. that's why i tell people to head there if they suspect it. can't tell by looking and definitely is hard to treat without RX.

Message: There are 2 things I discovered will help clean up my nails nicely when I've been cooking with things that can cause discoloration or working crafts with my grandsons. 1 is using whitening toothpaste and a nail brush and for tougher stains I use a little hydrogen peroxide on a cottonball.
