Subject: Sheltie Girl! So sorry about your RM experience!

Message:
Lori, I read over on Q and now here about your Rare Minerals experience. Yikes! It seems like this product has worked for less than half the people who have tried it. The first 10 days on it are divine and then comes the downward spiral! I was shocked too. For me it was dry patches on cheeks and later little pimples all over my forehead (a place that has NEVER had that issue).

I am so sorry this has happened right before your vacation and I hope you are seeing the rapid improvements daily since stopping that I have seen. What I did was something I read in Dr. Denese's book. She says when you use a product that doesn't agree it is a good idea to schedule a professional microdermbrasion. Well, I wasn't about to do that and spend another cent on RM! So I did my own rehab and did a good microdermbrasion. You really need to clean it out. Drink plenty of water to flush as well. I also went back to my regular products and spot treating pimples as well as dry patches. Now, a week later, and I'm back to normal, thank goodness.

Lori - have you ever used Paula's Choice 2% BHA cleanser? I read of alot of gals with oily skin who love this one. It is also rated highly by Dr. Baumann (The Skin Type Solution).

Hope it is getting better! Keep me posted.

Thanks for posting your experiences with RM. I simply LOVE BE foundation and even though messy I have never found anything the even resembles to look of using it so I go back to it all the time. I'm a kind of wham, bam, thank you maam girl when it comes to skincare so I don't know anyway if I'd go through this regime. Nice to know though. No more eyeshadow for me. I don't buy it anymore because I know I won't use it and I can't be bothered anyway. Just eyeliner, mascara, blush, foundation. Maybe a bit of lipgloss. As far as masks go the aspirin mask kind of covers it all so that's where I'm at.

Hey Hol!

I love the BE too! I admit, it CAN be messy but you know what I do anyway? Before I use it, I wipe down my countertop and I actully mix and tap there on the countertop. Then I wipe it off with either windex or clorox. It works really well for me to do it that. I have never dropped a jar of it, but my daughters have and it's those times I am greatful for the sifter top!!!
BE is the ONLY makeup my 15 year old can wear without having a bad breakout. She uses Pro Active when she thinks about it but even with the PA, she would break out using any other makeup. I'm a believer about BE. Haven't tried RM and don't plan to.

Sheltie Girl, as for the aspirin mask I'm surprised you haven't heard of it. It was on the accutane boards (accutane is for serious zits but I find ProActive works fine for my adult acne). I'd honestly put this mask up against any mask as being better or at least as good as some high end brands. Go to Walgreens and buy Walgreens aspirn (this aspirin is said to somewhat resemble what is put in skincare so alot of women use it). I just went upstairs and looked at the aspirin I use and it says Walgreens Aspirin - 5 grains (325 mg). Mix apx. 4 tablets with between 1/4 to 1/2 capful of witch hazel so it to melts and gets the right spreading consistency to smear on your face. Let it dry (apx. 10-15 minutes) and just wash off. DO NOT breath through your nose when you have this mask on because you'll sneeze your brains out and I'm not kidding! I believe it's an exfoliater and also makes your skin feel sooooo soft. I do it apx. 3x a week. That is if I can remember. Sure is cheap! Do not get heavily coated tablets.

Hol,
That is an interesting concoction! My skin is so dry, I can use motor oil and be okay! I really have fallen for those little Dove cleansing pads that have a bit of a scrubby side and a really soft side. They make my skin really feel good. And they are a touch less expensive than the Olay..... But I always top everything off with my OoO.

Lori - I hope the Paula's products clear you right up. That does sound like a good line for you. Hol's aspirin mask sounds so intriguing but I'm allergic to aspirin and would end up one huge hive!

Hey, BE mineral lovers, check out this tip I got from the Q Boards. Go to Everydayminerals.com and use the Custom Mineral Makeup Kits tab. At the bottom you can order a free sample kit. You just pay $3.51 for postage. I got mine a few days ago and the samples are HUGE - more than a 1/2 tsp. each. You can order the foundation in 3 different finishes - matte, semi-matte and everyday glo. I tried one of each. There is NO glitter in these minerals and no bismuth. Bismuth is the one ingredient that can bother people with sensitivities. The minerals are very finely milled and nice for Summer.

I have heard of everything you mentioned, Barbara. I love the OO also. I'm fairly dry too but I have finally found something for my skin to combat the dryness in the winter. I'm always out walking my dog even in the cold weather so I definitely need some protection. Anyway I'd give the aspirin mask a try. You don't have anything to lose because it's so cheap. Great for ALL types of skin.

Lynnie thanks and I am going to check it out. I loved the concept of BE but it is just way too shiney for my skin and I think the bismuth is what broke me out...with my oily skin I need more of a matte finish.
I am on day 2 of the Paula's choice and it is helping...some of the zits were painful but are not today...so far I am really liking these products.

Lynnie I checked out the Everydayminerals site and am very impressed....boy I m loving that they have the matte and that the foundation only had 4 ingredients and no bismuth.
We are going on vacation Wed to Florida but when I get back I am going to order the samples.
Let us know what you think about it...I am interested in coverage and does it make your face itch. When I tried BE if I got hot in the summer and would sweat the BE seemed to make my skin itch like crazy...plus I did not think that the coverage was all that good.
Now you have made my day!!!! I have been looking for a foundation for my oily skin for years now and I ordered the Oil absorbing foundation from Paula's Choice and like it but it is a liquid foundation....after wearing BE I really hate using a liquid and feel like I am wearing a mask. The mineral foundation really is so light feeling and not so heavy.
Thanks for the tip!

Lori
