Subject: Peeling Nails
Message: I'm sure you all have talked about this one before but I have been using NGF for about 2 months now. I have always had problems with my nails peeling layers. I had acrylics on for a while before buying NGF and my nails are just about all grown out from that. They are still peeling and thin, I am trying not to give up on this because I know it can take a lot of time. I'm getting frustrated and need some encouragement. Any advice??

Message: Hey there!
I had a similar problem after removing my acrylics. I used NGF for many months while my nails recovered. It's not just that the visible damage grows out, it's also that your nail bed and your cuticles need time to recover.
Remember to keep using your NGF and don't cut or tear your cuticles!!
Hoep that helps!

Message: Don't give up. You are really on your way. And consider the fact that you already own the product and there is no reason for it to go to waste. So rub, rub, rub! It really will pay off. For some it does take longer for the effects of the formula to really take hold. If you use it 2 times daily and are not satisfied with the results, you can use it more often if you desire. It will not harm the nails or the cuticles in any way. So keep up your efforts and keep me posted. Please..... don't give up yet.

Message: People have started to comment on my nails now. They are not long. In fact they are varying lengths because they are still too thin to grow much past the tip and some of them break. But they are improving, slowly but surely.
My nails seem a bit like yours spears11. If I bump them them then they get a crack or a bit breaks off and I have to file them smooth or they will catch and rip further. I don't file them all down to the same length anymore to even up the presentation, simply treat the ones that break. I'd rather have at least some of them looking good. The pinkies and the thumb nails seem the strongest.
As far as using NGF, well I can't watch tv without my pot of "sheep fat" as my husband calls it. lol. It is so relaxing to massage, massage. massage.

Message: Spears11, I don't have acrylic damage but thought I'd offer my experience for some of the ladies here that are on the fence about NGF. I can't relate to this peeling because after only a week of using NGF it seemed that my nail layers fused together and I no longer have peeling/splitting of the nails. That use to be a BIG problem for me. I have a feeling it has something to do with the fact that your nails are thin to begin with from the acrylic damage. I did remove my acrylics about 4 yrs. ago so don't think I don't know what you're talking about. I vividly remember the pain associated with removing the acrylics because my nails were so thin. I can honestly say I have 10 beautiful nails that by some sandards are short even though they come over the finger but I like it that way best. The nails then don't seem to get in the way and it's best to cut the nails before they break. Even though I've been using NGF for almost 2 months I still sometimes put the product on twice a day as Barb suggested. Long gone are the days when I rush to put on new coats of nail polish. I no longer need the protection. Remember, non-acetone remover is a key. Helen, I love how your hubby refers to NGF as "sheep fat." He's so right! It works though so you can call it whatever you want!

Message: SHEEP FAT!!!!!! ROFL!! That is toooo funny!
I just say 'where's my stuff' and they all know what I am talking about it. Tooo funny SHEEP FAT!
My acrylic nightmare story is on here somewhere but to put it all in a nutshell, I left the salon for the last time in tears because of how painful it had become. The tech offered to put some topical pain killer on my nails so she could continue but that was the end for me. I left and haven't looked back. I'm not sure how long I've been acrylic free... I think about 1 1/2 years now. My nails were looking amazing up til about 3 months ago when my friend passed away and I went nuts on my nails and cuticles. I've settled down now and I can see where the new growth is coming back really nicely. It taught me the importance of not picking the cuticles. When I was doing that my nails had ridges but not anymore in the new growth area. Did that make sense? I feel like my brain is in neutral and my mouth (fingers) are in overdrive! LOL

Message: Thanks to everyone! I will continue to use NGF for as long as needed. It gets very frustrated when you try just about everything and nothing seems to help! Then you see these women who have absolutely beautiful nails and don't have to do anything, they just naturally grow that way!! YUCK! Makes me sick! :)

Message: spears11,
just remember that our nails are majorly ruled by genetics. we have our mother's and grandmother's nails! we can improve on them though. i've been using the formula for 4+ years and still break them, but they grow back so much faster and healthier now. hang in there.
