Message: Jacki,
I took up so pretty nasty traits when my Dad passed in 79, so I know of what you speak. I mostly got mad at the world. Biting other peoples heads off rather than my nails though!
It is an acquired habit. It is learned behavior. So what you actually need to do is replace that nasty little biting habit with something a bit healthier. Like rubbing in the natural nails growth formula instead of chewing those babies up. It will keep your hands away from your kisser, and stimulate growth. So once you see how lovely your nails can be, the habit will not be something you will revisit.
You hang in there Jacki, I know how difficult it all can be. Stick with us here. We will talk you through it.

Message: I was never a nail biter, but man, did I love to pick, pick, pick those cuticles. I have replaced the picking with rubbing. Yep, I still get the urge to pick from time to time. But, I can honestly report that as I type this email - my cuticles are 100% intact and gorgeous. Not only is the NGF good for my cuticles, the taste is bad for chewing and I would imaging, biting your nails. It helped me break the habit.
Good Luck, Jacki

Message: jacki,
it is such a bad habit that can be stopped. i started biting when i was four years old, after a very bad car wreck my family was in, so my mother tells me. i kept the nail biting going until just a few years ago and i am now 43. it's a long time to abuse nails like that. i find i did it in certain places at certain times, everytime. there's a lot of solace in the ritual of doing it. when you find yourselve starting the "process", you have to get up and move. replace the urge with another activity. whether that's rubbing in moisturizer or going for a walk, just get up and do something else. it is a ritual that can be broken. i practice it everyday.

Message: Most of my nail biting clients stop biting or picking at their cuticles if they have acrylic nails. You have paid to have them done and they look nice so you will have pride in them and will leave them alone. I have had one or two clients in 13 yrs that will still pick or bite.
