Since my son was diagnosed with depression (more common than you think) I have a whole new outlook on the mentally disabled. Thank god my son goes to college and is getting good grades and holding down a job (Paneras - gourmet bread shop) and he's been there for almost 3 years. They think the world of him. He's going to the community college and almost has his associate's degree and then will be ready to go forth to a 4-yr college. If you're wondering he wants to be a high school English teacher. Other one has his eyes on being a chef or the likes. He'll be a senior in high school next year. |

My daughter was a literacty tutor in an elememtary school for a few years and my s-i-l is a Spanish teacher at a local HS. Both of your sons' careers will have direct impact on the people they serve. Your HS English son will help educate people, making their lives richer. Your chef son will give people a chance to wind down at the end of the day and enjoy wonderful food. How wonderful is that?? Again, congrats! |

My older son seems to have a gift relating to kids so I hope he continues to work towards this teacher thing. I'm so proud of him in the sense that he's been through alot and he has come out swinging. Even when he was ready to throw in the towel (depression) I was fortunate enough to talk him through it and get him back on track. Wow, a Spanish teacher. Even though I took 3 yrs in high school I did struggle. Funny how we remember things like that. I've got to relate something since you mentioned Spanish. When we lived overseas we visited Majorca for a vacation and I thought I'd have to use my high school spanish to get from the airport to the hotel. I spurted out some of my awkward Spanish and the guy at the airport spurted out English. Boy, did I want to crawl in a hole. It's amazing how you can find English anywhere though. |
