Message: I recall a very long and heated thread about Kevin Trudeau over on the Q. From what I understand or remember, he was sued because of false claims, undocumented test results, etc. Basically, there are a lot of natural remedies, however if not taken correctly, they can hurt you. Arsinicum, a derivitive of arsnic, works wonders when taken in correct doses under the care of a homeopathic doctor. I have seen people using it and not getting the results they were hoping for, basically because they not using it as directed by a DO who knows what they are talking about.

Message: Cheryl, I watched him a couple times on the infommercials and did not feel 'right' about his claims. Here's some guy who writes a book, does some paid promotions for his ideas - telling people they do not need medical treatment... it just seems wrong to me. Granted, I do feel that there is a lot we can do for ourselves without going to doctors but chances are had I gone to a doctor and not tried to let my knee mend itself, I wouldn't be using a wheelchair now.

Message: Now doctors do have their place in our society but just think of what Trudeau is trying to say. Trudeau is a whistleblower and by doctors not promoting natural cures doctors would not be putting drug companies out of business. This makes sense to me. Does it make sense to you or am I reading too much into it? Quite a while ago I was watching a talk show (can't remember) and this famous person (can't remember) said that chemo doesn't work. Alot of times people are made very, very sick by the "medicine" and some are lead down the road to death. This person was promoting a natural cures and it has come up again in Kevin Trudeau's book. Now I'm not saying Kevin is 100% correct on everything but he's got me thinking. Let's put it this way my caution light is on! I guess though if something happened to me would I go the drug route or natural cure route. That's the tell-tale sign. I think I'd go the drug route because I'm not too sure about this natural cure thing YET. I guess a good example is that my son has depression and it is said there is natural cures for this. Considering the hell that hubby and I have been through (which lasted for four years) there is no way I'd see if natural cures work as opposed to the drugs I've finally found that seem to work for my son. This was a crazy post but I hope you get my jist and I haven't confused you. I wonder if I'm confused myself?

Message: Hol,
I believe there are natural remedies all around us. I go to an acupuncturist in Atlanta and know beyond all else that my pain is gone and I did NOT take drugs to numb the pain. So also with medications. All medications are based on something natural. Like aspirin....If you chew on willow bark, your headache goes away...Pure and simple. It is a natural anti inflammatory. So even all of synthetic stuff is based on something that is out there in nature.
What I am waiting on is the new world, when the promises are fulfilled and all pain, and sorrow and sickness and even death are things of the past system. Can't come soon enough for me. I intend to be one of the meek that will inherit this earth! So much for Drs. and medications when that system comes into place. Pure worship and life everlasting is what I look forward to!

Message: hol,
i guess maybe i'm just too skeptical, probably from being married to a no-nonsense, by-the-book pilot, for all these years, maybe!! i do believe drug companies do have way too much lobby and power in the medical world and i don't see that getting any better, but, i believe there is a place for both natural and drugs in helping people to heal or at least have a better quality of life. it seemed like there were too many hoops to jump through to finally get to his "cures", each involving a little more money everytime. i just try to go by the saying, "if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is". making claims to cure MS, aids, cancer, etc. and with people out here desperate to hear anything that will make them well, almost borders on negligence. like i said, i believe there's a place for both, i just don't think we should be putting all our $$$$-eggs in his basket. just my opinion.

Message: Cheryl,
I am so with you on that! If someone really has answers, then there would be a breaking news story, the likes of which have never been seen before in human history. But as I have said a thousand time, moderation in all things. Even the good things. Slow and steady as she goes. And your no non-sense, by the book pilot hubby is a great guide. We should all use a bit of good ole fashioned common sense when searching out these things.

Message: I agree with you, Cheryl, that there has to be a happy medium between drugs and natural cures. Just as you said "if it sounds too good to be true, it is" doesn't that sound familiar. Reminds me of weightloss. I've had that problem all my life and finally realized that there's no magic pill. How did I lose weight but the "natural way." No surgery or buying any weightloss book that CLAIM to have the answer. Moderation right, Barbara! BTW, I looked up Kevin Trudeau on the internet and I basically got what you ladies have been saying although naturally, Howard Stern said "somebody should give this guy a medal." Just thanks for all your input, ladies. I'm just curious what your opinions are.

Message: Hol,
You be careful asking *opinions* here. You may get more than you bargained for! ((((((LOL))))))
I don't listen to Stern so I have no idea what his "thoughts" on the topic might be....But I don't see his mouth as prayer book either! Though you have to appreciate the fact that he at least says what he means and means what he says! Weather you agree or not...
The truth about my thoughts on the topic about natural vs. synthetic... My Mum was a nurse for 40 years so I got the best of both worlds from her. She was very practical and very smart concerning the new meds. So I got a balance and an appreciation for both.... I prefer natural if it is available, but synthetic if it provide what I need at the point in time I need it. So there ya' go! You obviously have good sense or you wouldn't even be asking the questions.... in my humble opinion, asking the questions is usually the hardest part!
