Subject: Getting better
Message: Well I haven't been as careful as others on this forum in noting the date that I started to use the NGF, but I think I'm at the month mark now.
I had acrylics for 12-18 months I think, then glue ons for about eight months. I used the glue ons to cover the ugly thin sore nail stubs. Really the glue ons didn't help the situation because they hold moisture underneath. I managed to avoid fungal and bacterial growth somehow. Probably because I was actually doing my nails myself.
My husband asked me to stop when he could see the state of my real nails under the fake ones.
Anyway here is my progess.
My thumb nails and pinkie fingers have hard strong nails with short white tips at the end. One of the thumb nails still has to reattach at the nailbed for a small section, but on the whole not bad.
The nails on my right hand are just starting to peek over past the end of the nail bed.
On my left hand two nails are still very thin and have snapped off at the very edges of the nail bed. So no nice white tips. I found that although they all grew a bit they are fragile and brittle and crack off like porcelain when bumped.
The thing I love most is the soft glow of pinkness of the fresh well treated beds. The cuticles are moisturised and healthy too.
I really haven't had to deal with ridges because here in Australia not all technicians use drills to prepare the surfaces for acrylic. I'm really looking forward to month two. Thanks Barbara, much appreciated, from me and my relieved husband :-)

Message: Sounds like things are looking better for you, Helen. I hope this gives hope to other acrylic users. Even though some of your nails haven't had an easy go of it they seem to be responding so just be patient. I'm so glad this NGF is working for you after the damage that occurred from acrylics.

Message: Helen,
You keep up the efforts and your nails will recover and be better than ever. So don't get discouraged and don't give up. You are well on your way now. You can use the formula as often as you wish so if you want to apply more often than the instructions state, it will NOT hurt your nails or your cuticles. I know it is discouraging to have those snags and flaws, so try to keep filed a smoothly as possible during the recovery process. The nails are so weakened right now that the slightest pulling will probably shred them up.
