Subject: Scared
Message: Hi everyone! I got acrylics for the FIRST time, 2 days ago. Today, I was reading all these posts regarding the dangers of the acrylics and now I am so scared - I only planned on having them on for 5-7 days (only for an event) and I HAVE to take them off after that time because I cannot wear them to work. How do I take them off? Will my nails be completely ruined beyond repair? Should I expect them to be horrible when I take them off? Are they fixable? I am SO scared - and never again will I get them, after reading this forum.
Please help!

Message: You have to soak them in acetone remover. Put some in a glass bowl, then set that bowl over into a larger, plastic bowl to "warm" it up. The plastic bowl that you set the glass bowl of acetone in should have warm water in it. Just enough to warm up the acetone. It may take as long as 20+ minutes per nail. Gently scrape the melted acrylic off, but know that it starts hardening up as soon as you remove it from the acetone. Work quickly and do one at a time. Some gentle buffing of the surface of the acrylic and cutting them down as short as possible will help too. When your done use some vitamin e oil and moisturize with lotion that contains shea butter. Your cuticles and the nail bed are going to be dehydrated.
