Subject: TIPS Nail Oil
Message: I have some of this left from a previous purchase. Would you think it was "safe" to use this up as a nail oil. I'd hate to throw it away, especially since it doesn't have acetone in it.

Message: Good morning to you Barbara! This is what the website lists as the ingredients for TIPS. Doesn't sound like anything bad but I just wanted to check first. I'd hate to undo all this good I've been doing for my nails in the past weeks.
Ingredients: Soybean Oil, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopherol, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben & Other Ingredients

Message: Does not sound terribly threatening does it? But I wonder what the "Other Ingredients" actually are?
Phenoxyethanol is a clear, aromatic, slow-evaporating, viscous glycol ether. Phenoxyethanol, is used as a tranquilizer in shipments of ornamental fish, to reduce bio-viability. As well used before shifting and handling of fish.
tocopherol
to·coph·er·ol (plural to·coph·er·ols)
noun
Definition:
antioxidant compound: one of a group of fat-soluble compounds that make up vitamin E, present in vegetable oils and leafy greens.
Methylparaben is an ingredient of local anesthetic preparations that is thought to contribute to untoward reactions to these useful drugs.
(Butylparaben, a common ingredient in a multitude of cosmetic products on the market. I am not cartain of its purpose....sorry!)
Ethylparaben: A microbial preservative. Eucalyptus Oil: A vegetable oil valued for its awakening, revitalizing fragrance. Back To Top F FD&C Dyes: Dyes approved by FDA for food, drug, and cosmetic use.
Methylparaben is used as a preservative . The structure is: Lauramide DEA is a foam stabiliser. Propylparaben is a preservative in food, and an antifungal agent. It can be a colourless crystal or a white powder.
So except for the OTHER INGREDIENTS, I would say it is in fact a safe as anything else on the market today.
Hope this helps.....
