 Subject: Can Broken Nail Be Saved?Message: I was just at the grocery store and realized that a nail had broken completely through (kind of short but it's not going to hurt if I end its life). I refuse to do the crazy glue thing (those days are over) and was wondering if I should just cut this nail off or is there hope? My nails do look great after only 15 days and are much harder but I don't even know if I can save the nail or it will just snag on something. Any suggestions? |

Message: There is a way to save a longer nail, in an emergency, if you are going to a special event, and you don't want one short nail. I think NGF is the best way, and taking the nail down to where the tear is, is better, but for an emergency, here is the tip. Take a teabag, cut it open, empty the tea out. Cut a small strip of the teabag, put clear polish on your nail, and on the underside at the tear, apply the strip that has been cut to fit, tuck the paper from the teabag around the tear and put a top coat or two of the clear polish on the nail. THIS IS FOR EMERGENCIES only, and after the event, remove it, and bring the nail down to the spot. It does work, it's similar to a silk wrap, but not as damaging or permanent, and will come right off with nail polish remover. I hope this helps. |

I'm glad I did. I have gone to those enough of those 'special events' to last me a lifetime since my husband was in the military. You know put on your smiling face and shake the guys hand who screwed your hubby. Not for me anymore! Your little tip is nice to know though. It doesn't involve crazy glue like I have done in the past. |

It keeps the nail from tearing and allows you to at least have a clear coat of polish on and no one will see the teabag strip. I am aware of things in the military, only from a friend, and I know it's a difficult life. There are back-stabbers in all types of work, but the military seems to make people more aggressive and the need to make rank can cloud people's judgment. I hope you have a good time, anyway. I've have some wonderful memories and I've travelled lots of places and nobody can take this away from me. Had my husband been a "civilian" I would never had these opportunities. Debodel can attest to this. The military has gotten worse these days. The days are gone when your superior would go to bat for you. It's now each man for himself and that's sad to say! |

Message: I realize that Hol, and my brother-in-law, who is my best friend, was in the military, and the system of promotions is highly competitive. He retired over 10 years ago, but he retired because his wife didn't want to move again, and uproot their daughter. He has wonderful memories of the military, and he loved being there. His next assignment would have been the Pentagon, and he really wanted to go there, but sometimes you have to make those decisions between family and career. |
