Subject: 2 month report
Message: Hi again. As of 5/1/06 I have used the NGF faithfully for 2 months. I now use once nightly and frequently also in the morning. My nails are still brittle and most have broken (pieces knock off when I knock something during a routine reach leaving a sharp like edge). They were not very long so I now have really short nails again because I used the stone to file all down. I also needed to trim off the edges of the cuticles on several fingers because they were sticking out and quite tough to cuticle remover didn't touch them. (I literally had white tough ragged peaks sticking up.) I still mostly don't trim or touch the cuticles but wish I could as there still is a visible white edge that rings the entire base of each nail. I will continue the routine every day but for the first time I feel less than optimistic that I will ever have nice attractive nails. Thanks for listening.

Message: It sounds as though your nails are extremely brittle. How much *WATER* do you drink daily?
I say that you should not cut the cuticles, meaning not to cut off a healthy cuticle. They serve a purpose. They guard against bacteria getting under the nails where they grow from the finger. If you have hard tissue that sticks up all along the cuticle, then clip very carefully that hang nail. Then apply either the growth formula or some vitamin e oil to soften the tissue. All things in moderation.....Do not take off the whole cuticle, clip the dried tissue.
Do not drown yourself, but drink 8, 8oz glasses of water daily. Use the formula as often as you wish, that can't be overdone. But a little extra oil and nutrient like a vitamin e oil or shea butter, or olive oil will help keep the tissue supple. The Growth Formula will stimulate the cell activity to promote growth and provide a moisture *barrier* so excessive moisture, from say, dish washing will not penetrate the nails surface, and the natural moisture contained in the nail will not seep out, but YOU must take in the necessary moisture to balance you bodies needs.

Message: Thank you for your response Barbara. I drink at least six glasses of water each day and will increase to even more. I am 55 and healthy. I do focus on water intake as I donated one of my kidneys 6 months ago and want to keep the other one happy. I also work in a busy hospital as a nurse practitioner and wash my hands a zillion times each day - frequently using the alcohol based rinseless pump solutions that are located all over the hospital. Maybe I am defeating the NGF will all of this. I will not give up however and will keep trying. I will go back to using twice daily. I wish I had a form of NGF that would fit into my lab coat pocket. Maybe using during the day would be better as well. Anyway, thanks for the advice. I hope my post did not upset you but I want to keep posting updates at various intervals along the way. Have a nice day.

Message: i just have to believe the hand washing and alcohol rinses are what's drying out the nails and cuticles. it can be brutal. i know you don't have a choice. i would wash and rinse, just as much, if i worked in a hospital or dr.'s office. just be extremely nice to them at home. use moisturizing soaps, no antibacterial and maybe think about buying a paraffin wax melter. i see them at discount drug stores, wal-mart, etc. wonderful for sealing in shea butter on dry, cracked hands and then rubbing in the NGF after. don't give up, they will come around. you kind of started out in a deficit through your working enviroment. what an incredible gift you gave someone with your kidney. there aren't too many selfless acts in this world anymore. what a kind and giving heart you have.

Message: Cheryl is right on as usual! There are so many things to consider with these issues as you obviously know. Just don't give up....You poor nails still DO actually stand a chance.
Sending you a small size for that lab coat pocket would be a pleasure. Consider it done!

Message: Dear Cheryl and Barbara: You are angels. I sent Barbara an email thanking her but also want to share here. I thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement. I also re-read my initial post and absolutely must also say that in looking back to pre NGF days there most certainly IS an improvement in my nails and I apologize for not making this clear. I am willing to stay with this for the long haul and will look forward to sharing with you and learning many more things about this important topic.

Message: Sandra,
I am glad you got some of the Honey Bee Garden Polishes. Don't you just love the fact that a drop of water will thin it out if it gets a bit thick! The remover is great! Not harsh, no ICKY* (medically involved term) odors or anything!

Message: Here's another thing to add, slhcrnp - a hair, skin and nails supplement! I use one with Biotin and vitamin A. Walgreen's has an effective one. I started noticing results in a month. That plus the NGF is the bomb for me!
