Subject: deformed looking nail
Message: My thumb nail looks horrible. I pick at the cuticle all the time and the sides of the nail. The nail grows out with ridges and deep pockets and is gross looking. If I stopped the picking would the nail eventually grow back normal or have I ruined it for good. I've been doing this for years and years out of habit, especially when I am nervous or under stress. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks

Message: I have the same problem and have been wondering what the cause is. I pick allot too but I was wondering if exposure to chemicals at an early age or having experienced a life threatening accident might have something to do with it also. Let Me know if picking at your nails alot can cause this kind of thing.

Message: STOP with the picking! Cuticles should be GENTLY pushed back with an orange stick(a special wood is used that won't splinter--sold at beauty supply stores). Order the NATURAL NAILS KIT sold on this website. Use the Natural Nails Growth Formula TWICE A DAY, message gently into each nail for 1 minute, twice a day. Use the Natural Nails Buffing Cream and Buffer once a week to seal in the nail's natural oils/moisture and smooth out any ridges your nail may have. YOU CAN HAVE BEAUTIFUL NAILS with the dedicated use of the Natural Nails products.

Message: I too pick at my nails and cuticles wondering if this is the reason for deformed looking nails??
Could it be a vitamin deficiency?? I take a multivitamin and calcium daily.

Message: Mary,
Picking those nails and cuticles can indeed make them *look strange*! Not to mention the fact that if you pick at the cuticles and injure that soft tissue you are leaving yourself open to infections and bacteria. You need to replace that picking habit with something more constructive. Habits are learned behaviors. You don't just quit! You have to train yourself to something else. You might try using the Natural Nails Growth Formula as a replacement activity. Rather than picking, you just rub the formula into the nails and cuticles. It will keep both hands at work and your nails and cuticles will recover and become beautiful, healthy, and stronge in the process.

Message: I will be totally honest here. I had a few nails that had some weird shapes to them. On my index finger it had what looked like ... well... imagine if you stuck your finger nail in playdough. It would leave a little indentation. I had that on the side of my index finger for years and years. I just posted last week that, after using NGF for several months, it's gone. Another one I have is my middle finger. You know know how the tip of your nail, where it comes away from the bed, is white? That nail was like that on the side. Been that way for years. Just recently I noticed that it's healing up nicely.
I think a huge part of the problem was the picking and biting at my nails and cuticles. I also think a huge part of the solution was NGF. I stopped picking and started rubbing in the formula.
If you give NGF a try, you'll find that you can use it to replace the picking habit. That worked for me.
Hope that helps!
