Message: You probably don't want to hear this but I had the same problem when I was younger and the only thing that helped me was pure determination. I still do it now and then but don't nearly get them as short as I use to. I catch myself before I go too far. I can honestly say it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do so I know where you are coming from. Can you believe harder than "dieting." Maybe somebody else can chime in here and give you some better suggestions.

Message: maja - I think Hol is probably right about determintion. Also, when you have a compulsion like that, it's best to replace it with another (healthier) compulsion! Please don't glue them down again. Ouch, it makes me cringe to think about it. Either try this product sold here or go buy some sort of nail cream or oil to massage in a couple times daily. Take it a day at a time, just like a smoker who is quitting. Alot of ladies I've read of here say that the act of massaging in oil or cream helps them resist nibbling. Just rub when the temptation comes over you. Once you start seeing some growth and have no snags tempting you, you won't want to undo you progress. Good luck!

Message: I definitely agree "you won't want to undo the progress." As with EVERYTHING the hardest part is starting. Once you have, so to speak, water under the bridge, you won't want to stop and throw it all away. Would you believe I find "dieting" easier than the biting nail thing? Maybe because when you're younger you don't have as much determination as when you're older. Could be? You couldn't pay me to put acrylics on again though. My nails hurt so much when I removed the acrylics because the nail was so thinned out from the constant "sandpapering" and not until my nails got a bit thicker did the pain cease. You wouldn't believe what this product does! After only using the product just a short time my nails are very hard. I'd try it. It's not that it costs a whole bunch of money anyway. Maybe that's the key. By the nails being so hard you may not want to bite them anyway.
