Subject: Gel nails pried off
Message: Help! I just had gel nails removed and the technician PRIED THEM OFF! My nails are sore (it was painful!) and sensitive and have dents in them, not to mention they are paper-thin. I'm hoping they grow back ok, but in the mean time, what can I do to protect my nails? (Has anyone ever had this happen? Do they grow back?)

Message: Oh my gosh, that sounds painful. The technician shouldn't have done that. You should have came on this site before you had the fakes removed and we would have given you our instructions on how to remove them safely at home or we would have told you to insist that the technician soak them off. In the meantime, you can order and use the Natural Nails Growth Formula sold on this site. Your nails will grow back and recover, but it's going to take a while.

Message: Jane - oh man, I know that pain! Someone did that to me about 20 years ago and my nails were as devastated as yours. I agree with Jessica that the Nail Growth Formula would be good to use for growing back healthy nails.
BUT, I also know that the first few days afterwards feel awful, like you are walking around wth exposed nerves at the end of your fingers. What I would do, and did do, in the meantime is hydrate your nails well with somethng like olive oil. Massage it in good. Then VERY lightly buff with a fine buffer. If you have a ridge filler on hand, use a coat of that and a couple coats of any clear polish. That will help with the immediate sensitivity and much of that will go away in a few days. Then you can decide what to use. Again, I don't think you'd be dissappointed in the NGF if you decide to order it.

Message: Jane,
that is just out and out abuse. it was so wrong to remove them that way. with acrylics you can soak them off in acetone. with gels, if they really are gels, they have to be sanded off. gel cannot be melted off with acetone. it would be interesting to know if you really were paying for gels. did they use a powder with a brush dipped in liquid? just curious. you're just going to have to keep them moisturized every chance you get. the nail growth formula is the best way to do this. so many of us here have been right where you are. it's not fun and it takes a while to recover them.

Message: I agree with what Cheryl said. That's just abuse to do something like that. One of my cousins who gets her nails done all the time told my mom almost the same thing. She said the technician yanks off the old sets of enhancements when it's time for a new set. And if they used a powder with a brush dipped in liquid, it's acrylic because with gels, there's no combining of products. Good thing I'm not ever going to put myself in a situation like this.

Message: I think these were gels. First, I paid about $55 for the set. Also, there was no powder - it was just a clear gel applied to my nails, then cured with a UV light. They did 3 layers of this. Reading a little more about it, I think the gel could have been MMA - the gel container wasn't labeled. The technician barely spoke english, I was wary of the observed sanitation techniques, and I was not impressed by the results. As I am a very active person, I wanted the nails off shortly after I had them put on. At least the nightmare is over and the healing can begin! Never again....
I'm desperate to have my fingernails feel like they did before this whole fiasco. I've found that a strengthening polish is somewhat helping with the sensitivity, as well as continuously moisturizing my hands (Thanks to everyone for being so helpful!). Can the growth formula sold on this site be used in conjunction with nail polish?

Message: Jane,
the two best words you could have ever said-"never again"! so many of us have gone through the same thing, believe me. you can use the NG formula over polish, under polish, however it works best for you. it works best and up to its potential over bare nails, but right now while you still have sensitivity and i'm sure some "layering" we do understand why you polished. the worst thing about polish is always the remover part. just something to keep in mind. the NG formula will last 3 months and longer. it feels like you are really doing something good for your nails. many of us have come here with the same nails that you have, found this product, the teriffic lady who makes it, and formed a wonderful support group of women who have turned into friends. we talk about a lot of stuff here, some funny, some serious, but mostly we just come together. i have been a daily user of this product for 4 years, others just a few months, but we all have finally found a product that does what it says. pretty rare in this world now-a-days!

Message: Well, I'd just like to throw in my two cents here. Barb - you are so sweet and humble and I see that you are very kind in your gentle promotion of your Nail Growth Formula product. As a recovering acrylic/gel nail "victim", let me just say that the Nail Growth Formula is THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO MY NAILS!!!!
I took my acrylics off during the first week of October. I started using the NGF in January, and because I work full-time and can't have gooey fingers in the office, I really only can apply it once per day, which I do once I'm in bed at night so it has all night to soak in and do its magic. I now have 10 strong, healthy, natural nails. I keep them at "sport" length because I am at a keyboard so much, and I'm also a bit clumsy with my hands sometimes so I bump into things which can cause breakage. I use the buffing cream with the beautiful leather buffer as well, and the little pink ceramic nail file. IT ALL WORKS TOGETHER SO WELL.
Anyone considering this product, especially following acrylic nails, will not be disappointed.
