Subject: wedding in a week HELP!!
Message: Hello could anyone please help, my fiance has ripped her big toe nail and it is barely on at the moment and it is our wedding in a week.
As you can imagine she is extremely upset by this and i really want to help find a way to help her, she has bought really expensive pretty open toed shoes, is there absolutely any way of fixing this for one day? false nails? will the one on there now heal back down on to the nail bed enough for someone to fix it temporarily?
PLEASE HELP!!!! it means a lot to me that she is happy, thanks,
Andrew

Message: Hi Andrew,
I think it's really sweet for you to care so much!
I don't know about how or if the nail will heal or reattach itself, but I do know that a few months ago someone on here posted about using the glue on fake nails for the toes that you can find at WalGreens or other drug stores. I believe the person using them had NO toenails at all, and would just attach them to the skin for a special occasion. I don't know how safe that is, but she seemed okay with it.
Please keep checking back, because I know someone here will have a sane answer for you ;)

Message: andrew,
the nail needs to come off so the skin under it has a chance to heal a little before she puts on a fake toe nail. they have them now at your local eckerd, rite-aid, wal-mart, in all kinds of colors, and french manicures. they glue on and will stay on. i have a "deformed" toe on my right foot that just won't grow a nail. it's more like a tough lump of skin. my horse nailed it with his hoof many years ago! when i need to, i glue one of those toe fakes on, cut it down or file it and i'm good to go. i've only done it a few times and it's worked really well. it's a really messed up nail anyway, so it seems to take the glue chemicals pretty well. i really think this would work well for your fiance. she just needs a good surface to glue it to. i would not attempt to glue it to a half-on hurting toenail. any more questions just ask. congratulations. she sounds like she's getting a jewel of a guy!

Message: Andrew - The fake glue-on toenails could work and I've seen them everywhere alongside all the glueons and press-ons in drugstores. But, they attach with nail glue and, as Cheryl has said, her injured skin underneath might not be able to handle that. You don't want her to have some sort of reaction on the big day, plus it would be murder getting that nail off afterwards.
Here's a goofy idea if she hasn't got a good area to attach to a nail. Get a set of the glue ons and some of those flesh colored bandaids. Use super glue to glue a nail onto the bandaid. (She should probably paint ALL her toenails with a metallic shade in the ivory family maybe, including the fake one.) Then put on the bandaid and see how it looks. If her toes are just peeking out of her shoes, it might just work. Because I wouldn't depend on a bandaid to stay put all day when I'm going to be waltzing down an aisle, dancing and on my feet in general, if this works, she should make up a few of her "prosthetic nails" already mounted and polished, ready to go in her purse. Anway, she has a week to test this theory and it won't further injure her nailbed.
She may have a somewhat pathetic toenail at present, but she has a PERFECT groom!

Message: oops - back to the bandaids, I'm thinking those stretch woven fabric ones that will fit without gapping. You could even glue one end over the other so you have a little toe sleeve! Could also be fun if someone finds one of those on the dancefloor. (hmmm, I need one of those devil emoticons at this moment.)

Message: And if she's wearing pantyhose, the bandaid wouldn't show much at all. If she's not planning to wear full hose, maybe, just for the wedding, she could manage knee-hi hose.

Message: Moi - I hadn't even thought about hosiery. Good point! That sure would help keep everthing in place. But better than knee hi's, some pretty thigh hi's with a lace top, and a garter of course!
