 Subject: smashed index finger ripped off nail and nail bedMessage: 2-25-06 I smashed my finger in a very heavy door jam. It smashed my index finger so bad when I looked, my nail wasn't where it was suppose to be and there was some cuticle looking thing attached to it seperated by a break in the flesh in my finger. A trip to the local hospital showed me that I had broken the last bone in my finger twice, they finished detaching what was left of my already mostly detached nail and reseated my nail bed and stitched it and my smashed finger with 11 stiches. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE I WAS WEARING ACRYLIC NAILS (I only splurge on these one weekend out of every year) THE DOCTOR TOLD ME IT ACTED LIKE A LITTLE HELMET AND SAVED MY FINGER FROM BEING SMASHED COMPLETELY OFF. ( I guess they paid for themselves!) 1 1/2 weeks later, finger still broke and in a splint, finger still stitched up and finger nail spot all scabed over. My local Dr. hold high hopes for the nail but, I have to admit I hope he is right. If anyone has done this much to their finger and has a story to tell, I would love to know how it came out. I had broken a nail with acrylics on and they had just the opposite affect on me. My nail was literally torn off because the acrylic was attached to it so firmly. That was a real OUCH too. |

It's amazing how many nerve endings are in one little fingertip, huh? I'm hoping the doctor is right and it will start growing again. When that happens, you might want to consider a little jar of the Nail Growth Formula. I have a similar story about acrylics saving my fingertip. A couple years ago I was cutting down the mums in my garden with my electric hedge trimmer. I was careless and in a hurry, pushing back the stems with one hand, cutting with the other. All it took was a touch of that blade on my index finger. What it caught on was the acrylic, enough to let me know I'd hurt myself. Otherwise the tip would have been gone. Oh well, I no longer use acrylics OR hedgetrimmers! Good luck to you. |
