Subject: Heard from Karen
Message: Moi, Cheryl, Barbara, Lori, Lynnie, Deb and all our friends,
I emailed our sweet pal Karen last night because I had not seen any posts from her recently and I had a feeling she was having a bad bout of fibromyalgia. I got a lovely email response in return and she wants me to say hello on her behalf. She does look at our forum from time to time, but as many of you know with fibro, it really causes cognitive problems (I, too, remember the horrible brain fog from my past years of chronic fatigue syndrome, and reading a computer screen is a challenge!) so Karen is reading when she can, but not able to post right now.
She is hoping that the upcoming warmer weather will provide some relief for her, and I pray that it will!
Karen, you know we are all thinking of you!
Jill

Message: Hi Karen,
I do hope for your total and speedy recovery. These things are so tiring! We have indeed missed you and several others...Lori, for instance. But I know how hectic things can be. It is even hard for me to get in here as often as I need or want to, so I totally understand.
Take care, and Jill, thanks for sharing this information. How are you feeling today????

Message: thanks jill. i know fibromyalgia can be "mind-altering" sometimes. i'm just glad that the medical profession is finally dealing with it as a real medical condition. we thought my husband had chronic fatigue for about two years and it was difficult to find anyone to deal with it seriously-and he was a man! what it ended up being was TMJ problems, as a result of adult braces, that mimicked the symptoms of chronic fatigue. my husband thought he was going to lose his mind over it. i guess there are suicides every year from horrible TMJ pain. a lot of doctors just don't consider it or chronic fatgue or fibromyalgia "real". they, or a loved one, need to be diagnosed with it, then we will see more progress!

Message: Hi Barbara,
Thanks for asking about me. I need to switch from oral antibiotics to antibiotics that are injected directly into the muscles (ouch!!), but my insurance company rejected the prescription, plus there is a shortage of this drug. So I have decided to pay out of pocket for the meds, if I can get enough of them. If not, then I have to go on intravenous - which I may have to do eventually anyway in order to penetrate the nerves and avoid further nerve damage.I'm hanging in there in terms of symptoms. I'm back to working part-time, but I need to get back to working full-time rgardless of how I feel - especially now that I will be further supporting the pharmaceutical industry!
I wish we could each feel fantastically well and be able to focus on the fun things of life!! We each deserve it.
I've been wondering how Lori is, too - you're right, we haven't heard from her in a while. Lori, check in when you can!
Prayers and good wishes to everyone!

Message: Hi!
I'm glad you talked to her, Jill. I've been really worried and wondering about her. I hope she'll be back with us soon.
There are a few missing lately. Deb, but we know why, and Joy, Lori as you mentioned, Lynnie hasn't been around much either and neither has June or Scarlett or our very own trouble maker Denise.
I'm probably leaving someone out and if so, I'm sorry. I hope you're all doing well. Just know you're missed!!

Message: First - Hi Karen! I know what it feels like to read a forum or email and feel overwhelmed at the thought of replying. Somedays, when you have the fog or fatigue, reading does you in. Cyber friends always understand, though. Hope Spring brings a seasonal boost for you.
Jill - Thanks for the word on Karen. That was so nice of you to extend because it doesn't sound like you are feeling too terrific yourself lately. Sorry to hear you are still trying to get the meds right. Would the intravenous antibiotics be a treatment of a few hours or so? Darned insurance!
Lori - Bronchitis - YUCK! That can really knock you on your tail a good month or so by the time you are done wtih all your meds. Hope you are getting plenty of sleep. Feel better!
As for me, I haven't been around too much because I have vertigo. I've had it almost a month and finally went to the doctor. He referred me to an ENT but gave me meclizine to take in the meantime. It stopped the tinitus and that feeling that your head is under water, but I still feel like I'm on an elevator. I have to deal with this another 3 weeks till I'm seen, maybe longer if he needs tests. It's probably an inner ear infection. They don't really do anything much for that and it resolves eventually. Still, they like to rule out hearing loss. Anyway, depending on the day I'm having, sometimes computer use isn't a good idea!

Message: Lynnie,
When I read your post, Lori's, and this thread overall, I realize how much each of us is going through. I hope we each have major improvement very, very soon!
Lynnie, if I end up on intravenous antibiotics, I'd have to have semi-permanent catheter inserted in my arm or a permanent port surgically implanted in my chest because it's months of IV medications - yuck! But I'm still battling for the intramuscular ones first - I got a small portion of what I need, I must keep fighting for the remainder or it's not worth doing - it's either a three-month regimen or nothing.
Lori, good luck on the bronchitis. You've been fighting it for a long time and you are due for a break from this!
Lynnie, I wish you so much luck with the vertigo and tinnitus. Years ago when I had chronic fatigue syndrome, I had bouts of balance problems and it is very disabling so I can only imagine what you are going through on a regular basis. Please keep us posted on what the doctors say.
Blessings to all!

Message: Jill - oh, so the delivery would be about the same as your options for dialysis. Gee, surgical ports seem drastic for that short a course. I hope you can keep up with the intramuscular injections instead. What are they using - doxycycline? I know they use that one for a number of different diseases.
Jill and Lori - yeah, it's going to be a long 3 weeks, but I do have some good days that are steadier than others. The imbalance is my big problem. Today I did the thing that is hardest for me, grocery shopping. Something about the flourescent lights reflecting on the tile floors and maybe all the sudden movements set me off. I feel like I'm walking on one of those funny house floors! Today I took it real slow, just like all the senior citizens. Driving is fine, thank goodness, because I'm sitting. I just can't look at stationary objects like phone poles. It's just plain weird how it's all tied in visually, much like car sickness.
Wishing us ALL improved health SOON!
