Subject: Hair, Skin and Nails 2

Message:
Thank you, everyone, for your input.

I'm wondering about how long it will take before I will see a difference? Part of me is tempted to have my hair cut short to be rid of what I consider ugly damaged hair. Does your hair really seem to grow faster? Do you only see a difference in the new growth, or also at the ends in the older hair? AND, when you're hair is growing out, how much of it is alive? 1/2 inch? 1/4 inch?

Thanks!

:::sigh::: so much to learn, so little time.

ruth, i think i've read where our hair isn't really alive. kind of sad since we spend so much dang money on it! maybe someone else out here can add more. do you color or perm it or anything like that? i'm always for cutting off the old, damaged ends. i'm not saying go "crew cut" on us, but it probably wouldn't hurt. i do take a multi-vitamin everyday and extra c in winter, but i'm also a little skeptical of all these supplements too. i've never seen any improvement when i have taken them, and watched most of it get flushed down my toilet when i peed! but that's just me. eat decently and you get what you need from your food is what i strive for.

Cheryl,
I think I have also heard it's mostly dead.
Did you ever see the Princess Bride, where Billy Cystal said that Wesley was only 'mostly dead?'
Everytime I say 'mostly' something I think of that.

I havent' had a perm in about 10 years. I do color, but my hair seems better afterwards. I think I'll go get about 4 inches whacked off, that will still leave me with slightly longer than shoulder length and, as I keep telling my kids, it will always grow back.

Hi Moi,

As I had posted in the other thread, I wasn't on Hair, Skin and Nails all that long so I am no expert. But for the time I was on it, my stylist mentioned how long my hair had grown. I noticed the difference because so much more of the gray roots started showing between colorings (not a good thing, but one indication of pretty fast growth). I didn't notice any difference in thickness or shine or anything, but again, I was on it a short time. My ends get so straggly looking if I let my hair grow beyond shoulder length, so I have to get cuts no matter what, so don't feel badly if you need to go a little shorter to keep the healthy look.

I'm curious to hear others chime in, but so far, all the feedback I've heard on this and other forums is very positive for that vitamin formula.

Jill

I'm with you, Jill! I have only heard good things about it so I have my fingers (with my lovely NGF nails) crossed!!!

On the Q a couple people were going on and on about being able to buy it at WalMart for $5 so while I was there yesterday I checked it out. The difference is that AL's HSN has much more than just biotin in it, and it's very pure ingredients at that. I'm all for that and if you're not comparing apples to apples, there is NO comparison!

Hi ladies, I noticed a difference in my nails first - about 3-4 weeks, then my hair about 6-8 weeks and then my skin. I have noticed a huge improvement in my rosecea after taking it for about 6 months. Hair and nails are dead - that's why it doesn't hurt to cut them - but the tissue under and around it is alive and that is where the biotin comes in. I am not a scientist and I am sure I don't sound very scientific. I just know that this product works for me and I love it.

I agree about comparing apples to apples Ruth. I hate it when they go on and on about how much cheaper you can get it at Walmart. Don't get me wrong, I love WM and I am all about getting stuff cheap - but what I put into my body is important to me. I know that Lessman's product works and is in the purest form available. That is worth something to me.

hey, if it makes sense, it sounds good to me! i agree with using good, dependable vitamin products. if you look at the fillers they use at the discount places, you're paying for a whole lot of nothing sometimes.

Whole lot of nothing is right Cheryl! They are usually as big as a horse pill due to all the fillers.
My physician of 38 years told me that the best way to get all of the vitamins necessary is to spend the money on food instead of pills.
My Dad always said, "It is smarter to buy groceries, than to pay dr bills."

I so agree Barbara - I just wish I had a balanced diet. I am the worlds worst eater. I have never been a breakfast - lunch is at my desk, sometimes and dinner - well that depends on where hubby takes me.....lol At least when I take good quality supplements/vitamins I feel like I am doing something good for ME!! And, I know that some things we need for healthy hair, skin and nails, for instance such as biotin are hard to consume in a regular diet. Liver (YUK) is high in biotin - to get the amount of biotin in Lessman's Hair, Skin and Nail product - you'd have to consume something like 4700 calories worth a day - NOT!!!

And, sometimes I will make a mid-morning smoothie and since supplements come in a soft, capsule - I just open then and blend them into my smoothie - no pill to swallow. It's hard to do that with a rock hard tablet of any kind.
