Subject: Need help with Queen Bee's french manicure kit
Message: Yikes!! What a mess I made!! Couldn't get the little strips to adhere very well...and when I finally thought I had them in place, I began painting on the manicure white. Well....lets just say when I took the strips off, the white had bled through and looked incredibly messy. I finally gave up and just put on the pink polish, which, even though i used 2 thin coats, came out streaky!! Fidget, anyone??? I know you love this kit...any advice?? thanks in advance.

Message: Hi Nance. It's OKAY! We can get through this.
I'm glad to hear you went ahead and put on the Bermuda Pink. But it sounds like you may be putting too much on. You should be using very thin coats. Only have a small amount of polish on the brush when you go to apply it to your nail. If you find you just can't get the knack for it, you may put ONE drop of water into the polish, and shake it up well. This will thin the polish down making the thinner application easier.
As far as the strips go, I encourage you to try it again. Take your time. I try to line up roughly the middle of the strip with the middle of my nail and press it onto my nail. Then I start on one side and push the strip down against my nail and all the way into the corner; then I do the same thing to the other side. For good measure, I then take the pad of my finger and press it down on the whole strip, making sure it's adhered. If you have a steady hand, you don't even need to use the strips. I've found that I can pretty much create a decent line on my own. If it's not totally straight, once the polish starts to dry it's still pliable in the beginning. You can take your nail and "clean up" the line a bit by pushing your finger nail against the back of the white edge. And then the pink or beige coat overtop seems to cover any tiny flaws.
I hope this helps.

Message: Thank you,Queen Bee, for your quick response! I will definitely try your meathod next time. One thing I have to say, is that I never really noticed how bad "regular" polish and remover smelled until I used yours!! The absence of that horrid smell was so nice for a change . thanks again for your tips -- I'll definitely give the french manicure kit another try.

Message: I too love the smell, or the lack thereof! Used to be when my hubby would walk through the door coming home from work he would say "someone's been doing her nails...." LOL NOT anymore!
I am still having a problem with it but it's my fault for sure. Some of my nails still have bad ridges, which is not condusive to trying to adhere the strips and get a clean line. In time they will get better, as they are already much improved from when I started using NGF.
Another problem I have, and I have never told anyone on the net about this, is that my left hand is partially paralyzed. In a car accident in 1984, we were hit and our car spun around and around. When we came to a stop, I (the passenger) had hit my arm on the steering wheel so hard I broke the wheel and my arm. A nerve was damaged/severed and no amount of PT was able to fix it, or help it regenerate. So I have limited use of that hand, which makes it REAALLLY hard to control a little nail polish brush. LOL
Sooooo, I'm thinking I will take my kit to a salon one of the days and have a manicure and let them do the french.
Melissa, I LOVE these colors. They are sooooo soft and lovely looking. Thank you so much for making this product so readily available!
How are things coming on the Q front?

Message: I agree, Moi! Don't miss that smell one bit here. In fact, if I had a migraine in the past I couldn't polish my nails or remove it that day or it would send me over the edge.
Bermuda Pink has fast become my favorite everyday polish. Maybe I'll get ambitious and do a french this weekend.
Thanks again, Queen Bee. Be SURE to let us know when you are scheduled for the Q!

Message: Thanks ladies! Moi, I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. I was in a really bad one myself in 1987. You never really get over something like that. I'm glad you're okay now! Lynnie, I like the Bermuda Pink too. In fact I'm seriously considering doing a new set of colors like this. Shades of pale and neutral pinks. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Like if you have a favorite (say OPI pink, or whatever) I'll go check it out and see if we can do something similar. Nance, I'm happy to hear you'll give it another try. Pick a day when you have some time to spend on it. If I can be of further assitance, I'd be happy to help.

Message: Queen Bee,
I thought you'd get a kick out of this: as you probably recall, I've posted about how chemically sensitive I have become (yet again, after being able to handle fragrances on and off in the past). So I am very much looking forward to ordering your odor-free nail polishes once my nails grow out a bit more (I backslid and chewed on them, but am back on the NGF growth track and program!).
Well, I had a workman over the other day who knows me well, and knows how sick I've been. He asked if I had some old nail polish he could use to mark in a bright color a measurement on something he was repairing. So I gave him a well-known brand of polish from QVC that I can no longer use. He started using it and ran in to where I was and said, "Jill, I can't believe you can use something with this strong of an odor!" and I said, "I can't, that's why I'm letting you use it for your repairs!"
So when burly handymen comment on the strong chemical smell of a nail polish, you know there's a need for products like yours! I look forward to using them.
And count me in as a lover of all pink colors - from pale to a true rosy or berry color.
Jill

Message: Queen Bee - you asked about suggestions for a pale pink collection. Definitely include a sheer pink like the Bermuda pink, as well as a matte neutral pink. Another idea - the gals on Q are always trying to guess Mary Beth's nail color. I'm not up on my OPI colors, but I read someone even emailed her. She alternates OPI colors: Dancing in the Aisles, Calling All Goddesses, Nomads Dreams and Melon of Trou (more coral). This week they raved about Nomads Dreams, the one they believe she wore during the silver day. That looks like a frosted dusty pink with a little mocha undertone.
Must be fun mixing! I can just see you in your lab coat. lol

Message: Thanks, Lynnie! For the nail polish, I'm not in a lab coat. I only have to wear one of those (along with a hair net - yuck!) when I'm at our FDA facility, or when I'm formulating. For the nail polish, I take what I want in to our chemist and say "here - make this!" I will definately check out those OPI colors this weekend. THANK YOU for taking the time to make suggestions!

Message: Queen Bee, I vote for salmon and coral colors with no coolness in them. Gold shimmer It's hard to find these colors with warm tones in them.
I also love your lipsticks and was wondering if you could make the salmon or corals to make your nail polish.
Thanks
Kimberly
