Subject: what should i do?
Message: I have gotten fake nails many times and for the past year, one of my fingernails has been growing weird and the part of my finger that is right under my cuticle is really swollen and it hurts. I ahve been to the doctor and havge gotten it treated for a bacterial and funbil infection and I have also gotten x-rays and blood work and we still can't figure out what is wrong. I have an appoint with the dermatoligist, what do you think it could be? I'm not going to have to get it amputated, am I?

Message: I think what you may have is some kind of infection caused by the fake nails. It sounds like a paronychia infection. You may want to think twice before you get fakes again and think about putting your efforts into your own natural nails. I'm not sure if you have to have your finger amputated, but you shouldn't get any more fakes because they destroy the natural nails. What also accompanies the fake nails' cycle is the wasted time, money, and the possible medical problems associated with them.

Message: A dermatoligist is the best next step. That should always be the first step with these issues. Amputation is a but of a stretch I would think, or at least hope! My word, that would certainly put a damper on the fake nail industries fire! Please let us know what the dermatoligist says.
