Subject: Lynnie: Thanks re: Chavez strengthening haircare
Message: Hi Lynnie,
The Ojon thread ran out of room (we are chatty ladies when it comes to beauty products, aren't we?). Thanks for mentioning the Nick Chavez strengthening line to help battle thinning, dryness, etc. due to medication and toxic medical treatments.
I have almost every line that Nick Chavez makes - except that one - how did I miss it? I have always said that Nick's products are what made me finally make peace with my hair and get results that I like. But even my stylist remarked at how dramatically the medications have taken a toll on my hair thickness and health - even though I had warned her this might happen. So I will definitely try Nick's strengthening line given my great track record with his other products.
If I don't like the Ojon this time around, I will send it back - last time I waited past the 30 days with the rejuvenating treatment.
And Lark, if you're reading this, yes it's such an individual thing about which fragrances affect each of us. I'm chemically sensitive and get headaches with most perfumes, but can handle a few body lotions from the Perlier line and others. The Ojon scent didn't make me feel ill, I just didn't like it.And I know I'm in the minority. Maybe I'll think about it like it's a cup of coffee, which I love!
Take care,
Jill

Message: I used the Ojon Shampoo and conditioner samples from the BB and LOVE them! My hair didn't get greasy feeling after the first day, which always happens to me with other conditioners. Also, my hair didn't come out looking like a haystack after using it.
Can anyone recommend a good place to buy this or does Q have the best prices? It's a bit (okay, a lot) higher than I feel is justified on shampoo and the such.

Another site is rainbowgiftsbyrose.com; free shipping there.

Message: Well, I just tried the "Try Me" hydrating shampoo, conditioner, revitalizing mist, and gloss and shine (I didn't try the rejuvenating hair treatment this time). It made my hair very soft, but unfortunately I still cannot tolerate the fragrance. When the rejuvenating treatment was first offered on QVC, I tried it and hated the smell and how it lingered the next day. Today, at least the shampoo, etc. is a milder version of the fragrance than the very concentrated rejuvenating treatment, but this time it gave me a headache which has lasted for hours (I'm really sensitive to odors and chemicals these days - more so than in recent months). So back it goes to QVC. At least I tried it within the 30-days instead of letting too much time go by.
What a shame - my hair needs extra conditioning. But at least I can post on this forum that Ojon and I just weren't made for one another. On the Q boards, some of the Ojon users are so enthusiastic, you don't dare say it's not for everyone!
Back to good ol' Nick Chavez, plus the very reasonable Paves line from Walgreens makes my hair very soft - and I learned about that from the Q boards.
Take care,
Jill

Message: Jill, which line of Paves do you use? I have some that I can't use, it makes my hair like straw :( I'll send you what I have if it's what you use.
I am sitting here with a shower cap on my head, with the Ojon restorative treatment on. I am hoping it works okay since I had already used the Ojon shampoo sample.
I'll just hampoo it out with the fructis I have.
LOL I hope that my hair care cocktail doesn't melt my hair ;)

Message: Hi Moi,
The only Paves I've tried are the Flawless Undamaged Goods Deep Conditioning Cream and the Flawless Repairing Shine Shampoo - both in blue containers and both work well with my hair and my sense of smell. I also have the Star Power firm hold repairing styling gel which also agrees with my hair and nose.
Hair care products are heavy to ship, so of course I'll reimburse your shipping costs plus whatever the cost of the products. I'm happy to purchase them because there is not a Walgreens near me and I had to order them from the Walgreens website. Also, on the Q boards, some people said that Walgreens is discontinuing some of the Paves, although I also heard that Sav-On has it.
Of course, I've got plenty of shampoo and conditioners (mainly Nick Chavez) so it's not like I'm about to run out and have a dirty hair crisis any day now! I guess I just keep looking for the holy grail of hair care.
If you need me to send you my address again, just let me know.
Now I can see why there are so many different brands of products - we each react so differently to products, it's just amazing. Paves makes my hair incredibly soft, yet it does just the opposite to yours. Who'd a thunk it?
Hope you're doing OK. I'll email you off-forum in the near future.

Message: Jill - I bought the Ojon Try Me Kit too. Does that shampoo and conditioner make your hair staticky and flyaway? I'm going to hold on to it in case I want to wear my hair curly come Summer, plus I still plan to stay with the Restorative once per week. I switch off between the same lines as you - Paves (love it - very close to Pureology which I hate because of the floral smell), Ojon Restorative and Nick's Strenthening.
Jill, first time you use the Chavez you will notice a difference. The conditioner is wonderful, smells like coconut and changes the feel of you hair. The serum is nice as well. I lightly spritz the leave-in conditioner while flatironing my hair. This line relys alot on silicone, I think, so it really does protect your hair from heat and friction. A brush, blowdryer, or iron just glide through the hair without stressing it. It doesn't weigh you down and the shine is fabulous. And, the price is right for that stengthening kit! Let me know how you like it!

Message: Lynnie,
In reply to your question about whether Ojon makes the hair staticky and flyaway - last night when I did the shampoo, conditioner, mist, and gloss/shine, my hair seemed soft and manageable. This morning when I woke up, I had lots of flyaways. My hair is about shoulder length, on the somewhat fine side, naturally wavy/curly but I usually blow dry it straight like I did last night. So I'm kind of wondering why I'm having flyaways the next morning. But then again, my hair is in dryer condition than usual due to the medications.
Thanks for all the input on the Nick's strengthening - I think that sounds like the best match for the condition of my hair right now.

Message: Jill - I have coarser hair that curls. I woke up the morning folliwng the Ojon shampoo looking worse than Kramer (on Seinfeld). I had to get out the curling iron and some hairspray to tame it. It must have done a number on your finer hair. If you like your Paves Shampoo, the Nick kit for $29 or so is just fine. What you really want there are the conditioners and serum.

Message: Lynnie,
Thanks for the great laugh - just visualizing you and me turning into Kramer from Ojon made me burst out laughing. The reason I have to blow dry my hair straight is that I do get a frizzy Kramer-like look when I let my hair dry naturally - so I can relate!
