Subject: How long between polishing (Honeybee)?
Message: First, happy belated birthday, Melissa! I wonder if you have alot of pink and red clothes and heart jewelry because of your birthdate. lol Hope it was a good one and I'm sorry I was skimming here yesterday as well.
A question - I know your polish shouldn't stay on longer than a week, but how often can I chance colors without drying out my nails from the alcohol? What's your best opinion on that one?
By the way, I love your mattes. They have a nice sheen to them.
Thanks!

Message: THANK YOU for the birthday wishes. Yes, I have lots of red and pink things, but also diamonds, chocolates, perfume (hubby did good this year!).
You're young and healthy, Lynnie. You can change the colors as often as you like. The only reason we have the "one week" rule is for women who have very dry nails, or those who are undergoing cancer treatment, etc. If your nails are very dry, you can have a harder time removing the polish. In all honesty, I leave the polish on my toes for weeks over the summer. I know I'll have to scrub at it a bit harder when I go to take it off, but I don't mind. It's gas-permeable, so I know I'm not harming the nail underneath.
No matter what your skin condition, I still recommend you wash your hands with soap & water after removing the polish, and follow up with a moisturizer. I hope this answers your question - that was a good one!!

Message: Thanks, Melissa! I don't know about that "young" part, but my nails are quite smooth and moist from a couple months of NGF. Your polish doesn't penetrate that layer at all. I was more concerned about the alcohol actually. This morning I used a stovetop cleaner and got carried away using it on the sink as well. It did a number on yesterday's manicure, so I eneded up removing it after just having polished. They look fine to me! The first thing I do after washing is grab the jar of NGF.

Message: P.S., Melissa - I just hit the PRETTIEST combo - one thin coat of Fairy Dust, one coat of Bombay Pink Sheer and clear topcoat. The Fairy Dust looks less like a metallic and more like a shiny shimmer. Nice!

Message: Lynnie, the combo sounds beautiful. Kudos for experimenting! As long as you're using the NGF, I don't think it matters how many times you change polish. Enjoy!

Message: Thanks for all your help, Melissa. I do think that the NGF is the optimal base and if I am wearing a darker color that starts to wear or chip, I can't stand the look after 3 days and remove it.
Here's another interesting question for you..... What household cleaning products have you discovered disturb your polish? (I have to remember to throw on gloves next time I do that stovetop. It had the consistency of Soft Scrub.)

Message: I use mostly environmentally-friendly cleaning products. My favorite is called Sun & Earth - it honestly works BETTER than many of the conventional products out there, and I don't have to worry about using it around my animals. I also use "homemade" cleaning ingredients. I'm big on baking soda - it's probably the best thing I've found to use on my enamel stovetop.
Anything with alcohol or a strong solvent could potentially wear away at your polish. Your best bet is (like you said) to use gloves (protects your skin too). How is the polish holding up on you?

Message: Thanks for the cleaning product tips. I have one of those flat topped stoves and I bet baking soda would be just fine. I bought a special cleaner because I was clueless as what to use. I'll try baking soda for sure next time. I remember my grandmother using it to clean sinks. I've also used it to unclog drains overnight.
Polish is holding up great on day 3 here, but I'll be ready for my intensive NGF therapy for a couple days soon. What I love about your polish is that I can throw it on a few hours before going out to dinner and it dries so quickly that I can still get ready without causing smudges or nicks.

Message: Lynnie, I'm so glad the polish is working well for you. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the fact that your nails are so healthy from the NGF. I've got to step up my treatment plan now - just a few short weeks before I have to show these babies on TV again - and right now they look awful! I don't know if this is possible, but I think having a manicure actually damaged my good nails! All that filing, nipping and sawing back and forth - can't be good.

Message: you're so right, sometimes, about manicures melissa! in the past i've gone and had them and come home with weaker nails and polish that chips in an hour. you've got time between now and april. i know time is precious, but twice a day is the key right now. i'm so excited for you! my mom was a florist for 30+ years, so i'm always excited to hear when a small business, owned by a woman, is taking off!
